The first discovery Jan makes in his PhD research is that there is an optimal shape for plasmonic nanoparticles used for sensing purposes.

The paper has developed an optimization procedure to design the rotor lamination and magnetic sizes. The average torque is improved by changing the thickness of the outer bridge and magnetic width. Various metamodels with the best prediction performance generated for each of the multiobjective functions and constraints have been selected.

Pooled CRISPR screens are a powerful tool to probe genotype-phenotype relationships at genome-wide scale. However, criteria for optimal design are missing, and it remains unclear how experimental parameters affect results. Here, we report that random decreases in gRNA abundance are more likely than increases due to bottle-neck effects during the cell proliferation phase. Failure to consider this asymmetry leads to loss of detection power.

Basic analyses were conducted upon an existing headlamp, and the validity of the analytical model was verified by testing existing reflector temperatures under conditions similar to those modeled during the analyses. Based on this verification, three types of radiating fins were modeled and analyzed. The vertical fin type exhibited the highest heat dissipation performance. Subsequently, design variables were selected for the vertical fin type and size optimization was performed using the design of the experiment model. Results confirmed a heat dissipation performance increase of 4.

This study aimed to optimize additional carrier concentration for spray drying of Pouzolzia zeylanica extract. Response Surface Methodology (RSM) with central composite design (CCD) was applied for optimization and investigation of the influence of maltodextrin (5ö15%, w/v) and carrageenan gum (0.06ö1.0%, w/v) concentration on the physicochemical characteristics of spray dried powder (bioactive compounds, moisture content as well as particle size distribution).

The fuzzy programming converts the multi objective model to an auxiliary crisp model by Jimenez approach and solves it with ߝ-constraint. Successful pellet production has been reported in literature with cross-linked poly(vinylpyrrolidone), Polyplasdone® XL-10 and INF-10. In the present study, a quality by experimental design approach was used to assess several formulation and process parameter effects on the characteristics of Polyplasdone® XL-10 pellets, including pellet size, shape, yield, usable yield, friability, and number of fines. The hypothesis is that design of experiments and appropriate data analysis allow optimization of the Polyplasdone product.

The extraction conditions of polyphenols from Camellia dalatensis leaves were optimized by experimental design with five variables using Design-Expert V11.1.0.1 software. Using the methodology of response surface optimization, the optimal polyphenol extraction conditions were found to be an ethanol concentration of 49.29%, temperature at 60°C, a sonication time of 40min, a material size of 0.5mm, and a solvent/material ratio of 5.47.

A high demand for fungal lignin peroxidases on account of their innumerable biotechnological applications necessitates enhanced production This paper describes the enhanced production of lignin peroxidase by three isolates (LPS1, LPS2 and LPS3) of white rot fungi for delignification of crop residues. Initial screening of medium components was performed using a Plackett–Burman design and the variables with statistically significant effects such as pH, temperature, carbon source, nitrogen source, inoculums size, incubation period, inhibitors on lignin peroxidase production were identified.

This paper analyzes potential DVB-T2 transmission modes to optimize existing DTT network designs of Colombia, originally made for DVB-T, analyzing the trade-offs between capacity, coverage level and Single Frequency Network (SFN) size. Network planning results has been performed with a professional DTT network planning tool based on the three first deployment phases of the DTT network of the public national TV broadcaster RTVC. Results obtained fully justify the decision of adopting DVB-T2. Compared with the initial DVB-T design, DVB-T2 can increase the national covered population up to 7.

This research aimed at investigating the effects of extraction parameters on the extraction efficiency and chemical characteristics of Trungdu tea (Camellia sinensis O. Kuntze) seed oil, which is similar to olive oil with high portion of unsaturated fatty acids, especially essential linoleic acid and low content of saturated fat. The study parameters were particle size (0.25 - 2.00 mm), material/solvent ratio (1/12 - 1/6), temperature (25 - 55 oC), time (5 - 11 h), speed of solvent movement (0 - 250 r/m) and extraction times (1 - 3 times).

5G antenna is so compact size but has to get large bandwidth, high gain and good radiation efficiency to be able to support huge data rate for 4.0 revolution industry. In this paper, a novel 4x4 multiband Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna is designed. Using the semi-circle structure, the proposed antenna not only achieves wide band but also is easy to optimize operate frequencies at millimeter wave band.

The current study focuses on designing biodegradable transferosomal hydrogel using lignans and bio surfactant for transdermal applications. In the study, the lignans concentrate (LC) was extracted from flaxseeds and used to prepare vesicular transferosomes/transferosomal hydrogel by thin film hydration technique for drug delivery. The resultant formulations were characterized using light microscopy, DLS, Zeta potential, entrapment efficiency (EE %) and stability. In vitro skin permeation studies were also performed. The synthesized transferosomes were spherical in shape.

One of the most recent optimization techniques applied to the optimal design of photovoltaic system to supply an isolated load demand is the Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm (ABC). The proposed methodology is applied to optimize the cost of the PV system including photovoltaic, a battery bank, a battery charger controller, and inverter. Two objective functions are proposed: the first one is the PV module output power which is to be maximized and the second one is the life cycle cost (LCC) which is to be minimized.

The objective of present work was to utilize potential of nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) for improvement in oral bioavailability of raloxifene hydrochloride (RLX). RLX loaded NLCs were prepared by solvent diffusion method using glyceryl monostearate and Capmul MCM C8 as solid lipid and liquid lipid, respectively. A full 32 factorial design was utilized to study the effect of two independent parameters namely solid lipid to liquid lipid ratio and concentration of stabilizer on the entrapment efficiency of prepared NLCs.
