This study aims to investigate the role and mechanism of tubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2 C (UBE2C) in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Initially, UBE2C expression in leukemia was analyzed using the Cancer Genome Atlas database. Further, we silenced UBE2C expression using small-hairpin RNA (sh-RNA).

The winged-helix domain within the N-terminus of human MUS81 has been considered as potential target for drug development since the inhibition of this protein might significantly enhance the sensitivity of various cancer cells towards anticancer drugs. Nine cytotoxic triterpenoids previously purified from Helicteres hirsuta and Pterospermum truncatolobatum were selected for the docking experiment.

Exome sequencing (ES) has been successfully applied in clinical detection of single nucleotide variants (SNVs) and small indels. However, identification of copy number variants (CNVs) using ES data remains challenging. The purpose of this study is to understand the contribution of CNVs and copy neutral runs of homozygosity (ROH) in molecular diagnosis of patients referred for ES.

Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is a more aggressive subtype of lung cancer that often results in rapid tumor growth, early metastasis, and acquired therapeutic resistance. Consequently, such phenotypical characteristics of SCLC set limitations on viable procedural options, making it difficult to develop both screenings and effective treatments.

In the present study, we investigated the expression profile of tDRs in plasma of CRC patients. The results showed that the level of 5′-tRF-GlyGCC is higher in CRC patients than in healthy controls (HCs) and highlighted that 5′- tRF-GlyGCC is a promising diagnostic biomarker for CRC patients. Its expression is positively correlated with ALKBH3 both in vitro and in vivo, respectively.

ung cancer, one of the most common malignant tumors, exhibits high inter- and intra-tumor heterogeneity which contributes significantly to treatment resistance and failure. Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) has been widely used to dissect the cellular composition and characterize the molecular properties of cancer cells and their tumor microenvironment in lung cancer.

Immunotherapy has revolutionized cancer treatment, but most patients are refractory to immunotherapy or acquire resistance, with the underlying mechanisms remaining to be explored. Methods We characterized the transcriptomes of ~92,000 single cells from 3 pre-treatment and 12 post-treatment patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who received neoadjuvant PD-1 blockade combined with chemotherapy.

Ebook "Elucidation of abiotic stress signaling in plants: Functional genomics perspectives, Volume 2" provides timely research in the fi eld of stress-mediated signaling to develop a better and holistic understanding of stress perception and its transduction followed by the generation of response. In spite of the advent of different approaches to develop stress-tolerant crops towards multiple stress conditions in the fi eld, the success in achieving this goal is still unsatisfactory.

Ebook "Epigenetic memory and control in plants" highlights recent advances in our understanding of epigenetic mechanisms as a major determinant through which internal and external signals, such as those occurring during hybridization, flowering time, reproduction and response to stress, communicate with plant cells to bring about activation of multiple nuclear processes and consequently plant growth and development. The outcome of these processes may persist for generations long after the initial cues have expired and may contribute to plant evolution.

Ebook "RNA activation" offers an essential guide to RNA activation (RNAa), an emerging and fascinating new field. RNAa is a small RNA-guided and Argonaute-dependent gene regulation phenomenon in which promoter-targeted short double-stranded RNAs (dsRNAs) induce target gene expression at the transcriptional level. It occurs primarily in the nucleus and can be mediated by artificially designed short duplex RNAs that target regulatory sequences (e.g., promoters, genes’ 3’ termini and enhancers) and naturally occurring small RNAs (e.g., miRNAs and C. elegans 22G-RNAs).

An increasing number of small nucleolar RNA host genes (SNHGs) have been revealed to be dysregulated in lung cancer tissues, and abnormal expression of SNHGs is significantly correlated with the prognosis of lung cancer. The purpose of this study was to conduct a meta-analysis to explore the correlation between the expression level of SNHGs and the prognosis of lung cancer.

As the dominant component of the tumor microenvironment, cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), play a vital role in tumor progression. An increasing number of studies have confirmed that CAFs are involved in almost every aspect of tumors including tumorigenesis, metabolism, invasion, metastasis and drug resistance, and CAFs provide an attractive therapeutic target.
