This research sought to uncover the circumstances in which stakeholder interaction around the various perspectives on problem gambling might lead to a socially responsible approach to the management of poker machine gambling in clubs. The study’s methodology adapted a learning history framework of participative action research, and recruited stakeholders to act as “co-researchers” in a transparent-research approach to the exploration of the research question.

The research "Social and environmental reporting practices of the gambling industry: an Australian perspective" explores the corporate social and environmental disclosure (CSD) practices of Australian gambling companies to understand what information is reported in CSDs, and why. The first part of the study performs an analysis of the two gambling companies; annual reports (1995-2009) to investigate the changing trend of the CSDs.

The objective of the past work was to capture the main processes, both biophysical and economic, to reproduce them in a virtual world similar to reality. There have been two stages. In a first step, the team tried to select relevant knowledge to set-up a first conceptual model. As an hydrological model was already developed (Hoanh, et al. 2001), the emphasis was put on the economic and social processes. The first idea was to work on the interactions between decisions making at different scales.
