In this study, we evaluated whether bacteria can utilize the prebiotic present in soybean meal and determine the prebiotic index and activity score of the soybean meal by the newly isolated probiotic, Bacillus velezensis BS. The effect of soybean meal-containing medium on the growth, digestive enzyme secretion, and pathogenic resistance of the B. velezensis BS were also examined.

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of dietary inclusion of silkworm pupae meal (SPM) on nutrient digestibility, nitrogen utilization, gastrointestinal physiology and blood biochemical parameters in rabbits. Thirty Termond White rabbits were divided into three groups: SBM – fed a diet containing 10% soybean meal (SBM), SPM5 – fed a diet containing 5% SBM and 5% SPM, and SPM10 – fed a diet containing 10% SPM.

Impaired gut microbiota leads to pathogenic bacteria infection, pro-inflammatory response and postweaning diarrhea. Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) K88 is a major cause of post-weaning diarrhea in weaned piglets. Fermented soybean meal (FSBM) could relieve diarrhea, alleviate inflammatory response, and modulate gut microbiota of weaned piglets.

A 3-week feeding trial was conducted to determine the effects of defatted soybean meal, ethanol-extracted soybean meal and fermented soybean meal on lipid digestion in pompano Trachinotus blochii. Four diets which were formulated and designated as FM (fish meal), SBM (defatted soybean meal), ExtSBM (ethanol-extracted SBM), and FSBM (defatted soybean meal fermented by Bacillus subtilis) were fed to juvenile pompano Trachinotus blochii.

Diet containing 5% crude fibre (CF) was incorporated with 20 % and 40 % Sun flower meal (SFC) by replacing Soybean meal (SBM) to prepare 7 and 9 % CF diet and supplemented with desired lysine and methionine. Counter part of each diet having enzyme mixture (cellulase 300000 IU, B glucanase 2,50,000 IU, Xylanase 300000 IU, Lipase 14000 IU and amylase 75,000 IU ) at level of E0 (without enzyme), E1 (25g/100 kg) and E2 (50 g/100 kg). All diets containing 22 % CP in starter phase and 21% CP in finisher phase.

Soybean is produced today mainly for its protein and oil components. Commodity soybean seeds consist of approximately 40% protein and 20% oil on a dry weight basis (Liu, 1997). One metric ton of soybean yields an average of 183 kg of oil and 800 kg of protein meal. Soybean meal contains 44% or 48% protein the average Depth of 4.01cm seed to seed spacing was 25 cm respectively.

Fermentation has been suggested as an economical and effective method to eliminate anti-nutritional factors and improve the nutritional value of Defatted soybean meal (SBM). The present study aimed to examine the effects of Aspergillus oryzae fermented SBM (FSBM) on plasma cholesterol and bile acid levels in hybrid tilapia and pompano.

An experiment was conducted to determine whether the undigested high molecular fraction (HMF) of soybean protein restricts the growth of yellowtail through impairment of lipid digestion and absorption. Soybean meal (SBM), soy protein isolate (SPI), digested SPI (DSPI) and digested and purified SPI (DPSPI) were used as experimental diets.

Distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) is co-product of the ethanol industry produced during dry milling process. Its availability is increasing due to higher demand for ethanol as biofuel. The DDGS is high energy and high protein feed. Distillers dried grain with soluble (DDGS) in poultry diet may be done for economic poultry production replacing costly protein ingredient soybean meal. Level of DDGS in poultry diet depends upon species and age of poultry birds, type of cereal involved in its production, method of drying after fermentation, level of fiber etc.

The main objective of the present study was to investigate the effect of incorporation of graded levels of RDDGS in the concentrate mixtures on in vitro nutrient digestibility and rumen fermentation pattern using buffalo inoculum. Soybean meal (SBM) based conventional concentrate mixture was prepared and SBM in the concentrate mixture was replaced by RDDG at graded levels of 25, 50, 75 and 100 per cent on N basis. The nutritional worth of various concentrate mixtures was assessed by in vitro gas production technique.
