The effects of the coagulants on the functional properties of soybean curds have not or have rarely been investigated. The most common coagulant available to the local processor in Nigeria is lime juice. This research studies the yield, proximate composition and functional properties of soybean curd prepared using lime juice and compared it with those prepared with acetic acid and calcium chloride (CaCl2).

This study was conducted to evaluate the salt tolerance ability of two soybean cultivars under salinity conditions using a selection of growth and physiological parameters. Three weeks after germination, plants began being treated with either a 100 mM concentration of NaCl in Hoagland solution or a non-salinity (0 mM NaCl) solution.

This study was conducted to examine the effects of baby corn density on the crop and weed performance under two different maizesoybean intercropping systems. The results showed that the yield of soybean and the growth of the weeds were statistically different under the different maize-soybean intercropping systems.

Worldwide petroleum reserves are decreasing rapidly; therefore, looking for sustainable and renewable energy is currently one of the targets of scientists. Biodiesel which can satisfy these requirements is synthesized by the transesterification of plant/animal oil with alcohols, typically methanol, catalyzed by acid or base.

The 100-pod fresh weight (PFW), 100-seed fresh weight (SFW), 100-seed dry weight (SDW) and moisture content of fresh seeds (MCFS) at the R6 stage are crucial factors for vegetable soybean yield. However, the genetic basis of yield at the R6 stage remains largely ambiguous in soybean.

Plant architecture-related traits (e.g., plant height (PH), number of nodes on main stem (NN), branch number (BN) and stem diameter (DI)) and 100-seed weight (100-SW) are important agronomic traits and are closely related to soybean yield.

The results showed that soybean planted early (i.e. mid-June) suffered less PSB attack resulting in low seed damage and high yields. This suggests that mid-June is the best period to plant soybean to avoid PSBs for maximum yields in northern Ghana.

In this study, a xylanase was isolated and purified from the crude culture filtrate of Aspergillus oryzae VTCC F187 after 7 days of growth on the optimal culture containing 7% corncob and 5% soybean powder under liquid-state fermentation. After two steps purification process including gel filtration chromatography (Sephadex G-75) incorporating with anion-exchange chromatography (DEAE-sephadex), obtained xylanase was purified with the yield and purity of 24.9% and 3.91 fold, respectively.

Plant height (PH) is an important agronomic trait and is closely related to yield in soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.]. Previous studies have identified many QTLs for PH. Due to the complex genetic background of PH in soybean, there are few reports on its fine mapping.

To continue to meet the increasing demands of soybean worldwide, it is crucial to identify key genes regulating flowering and maturity to expand the cultivated regions into short season areas. Although four soybean genes have been successfully utilized in early maturity breeding programs, new genes governing maturity are continuously being identified suggesting that there remains as yet undiscovered loci governing agronomic traits of interest.

Soybean is not only an important oil crop, but also an important source of edible protein and industrial raw material. Yield-traits and quality-traits are increasingly attracting the attention of breeders. Therefore, fine mapping the QTLs associated with yield-traits and quality-traits of soybean would be helpful for soybean breeders. In the present study, a high-density linkage map was constructed to identify the QTLs for the yield-traits and quality-traits, using specific length amplified fragment sequencing (SLAF-seq).

The hundred seed weight (HSW) is one of the yield components of soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merrill] and is especially critical for various soybean food types. In this study, a representative sample consisting of 185 accessions was selected from Northeast China and analysed in three tested environments to determine the quantitative trait nucleotide (QTN) of HSW through a genome-wide association study (GWAS).

Breeding programs benefit from information about marker-trait associations for many traits, whether the goal is to place those traits under active selection or to maintain them through background selection. Association studies are also important for identifying accessions bearing potentially useful alleles by characterizing marker-trait associations and allelic states across germplasm collections.

Salinity is an abiotic stress that negatively affects soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] seed yield. Although a major gene for salt tolerance was identified and consistently mapped to chromosome (Chr.) 3 by linkage mapping studies, it does not fully explain genetic variability for tolerance in soybean germplasm.
