Special issue on the International Symposium

This Special Issue of the Journal of Advanced Research results from the third International Association of Geomagnetism and Aeronomy (IAGA) International Symposium organized in Luxor, Egypt, from 13 to 17 November 2011. The first IAGA Symposium was held October 5–9, 2008, in Cairo and addressed ‘‘Space Weather and its Effects on Spacecraft’’. The second Symposium was also in Cairo, from 4 to 8 December 2009, and addressed ‘‘Solar Wind––Space Environment Interaction’’.

The symposium was composed of many technical topics such as sensing and processing methods, data communications, modernization of I&C and control room, wireless technologies in nuclear applications, post Fukushima actions and development, system simulation technologies, robotics and automatic remote technologies, testing and maintenance, future I&C technologies for nuclear applications, cognitive systems engineering for process control.
