  • Links between colorectal cancer (CRC) and the gut microbiome have been established, but the specific microbial species and their role in carcinogenesis remain an active area of inquiry. Our understanding would be enhanced by better accounting for tumor subtype, microbial community interactions, metabolism, and ecology.

  • Research results have identified 173 species of coastal benthic Kien Luong, belonging to 122 genera, 75 families and 7 representative groups. Among the discovered species, Gastropod Molluscs have the highest number of species with 70 species, followed by bivalve molluscs with 51 species, crustaceans with 40 species. Other groups account for a lower proportion: Polychaeta has 9 species, Scaphopoda has 2 species, Cephalopoda and Chelicerata all have 1 species.

  • The Central Highlands (Tây Nguyên) is a center of yellow camellia diversity in Vietnam and the world. The Central Highlands contains 18 of Vietnam’s yellow camellia species, accounting for 37% of yellow camellia species in Vietnam and 28% of yellow camellia species worldwide. Moreover, all 18 yellow camellia species in the Central Highlands are endemic to Vietnam.

  • In Son La Province, Nguyen, Ho and Nguyen (2009) documented a total of 38 species of snakes. Pham et al. (2013) recently recorded five species of colubrids and one species of viper for the first time from Son La Province. In the paper "New records of snakes (Squamata: Serpentes) from Son La Province, Vietnam", we report seven new records of snakes for Son La Province based on newly collected materials from Copia Nature Reserve (Thuan Chau District) and Son La City

  • Ribosomal RNA (rRNA) accounts for the majority of the RNA in eukaryotic cells, and is encoded by hundreds to thousands of nearly identical gene copies, only a subset of which are active at any given time. In Arabidopsis thaliana, 45S rRNA genes are found in two large ribosomal DNA (rDNA) clusters and little is known about the contribution of each to the overall transcription pattern in the species.

  • The increasing application of next generation sequencing technologies has led to the availability of thousands of reference genomes, often providing multiple genomes for the same or closely related species. The current approach to represent a species or a population with a single reference sequence and a set of variations cannot represent their full diversity and introduces bias towards the chosen reference.

  • Peptidases (EC 3.4) consist of a large group of hydrolytic enzymes that catalyze the hydrolysis of proteins accounting for approximately 65% of the total worldwide enzyme production. Peptidases from thermophilic fungi have adaptations to high temperature that makes them adequate for biotechnological application. In the present study, we profiled the genomes of heat-tolerant fungi and phylogenetically related mesophilic species for genes encoding for peptidases and their putative adaptations for thermostability.

  • PrIME-GenPhyloData is a suite of tools for creating realistic simulated phylogenetic trees, in particular for families of homologous genes. It supports generation of trees based on a birth-death process and—perhaps more interestingly—also supports generation of gene family trees guided by a known (synthetic or biological) species tree while accounting for events such as gene duplication, gene loss, and lateral gene transfer (LGT).

  • To study cell biological phenomena which depend on diffusion, active transport processes, or the locations of species, modeling and simulation studies need to take space into account. To describe the system as a collection of discrete objects moving and interacting in continuous space, various particle-based reaction diffusion simulators for cell-biological system have been developed.

We selected 12 representative sampling sites and investigated phytoplankton diversity in both dry and rainy seasons. The phytoplankton of this area were comprised of 134 species, belonging to 64 genera, 45 families, 31 orders, 8 classes and 5 divisions. Among those divisions, Bacillariophyta was the most dominant in species, accounting for 70% of the total number of species and Cyanobacteria commonly had high density at 12 surveyed sites.

  • Ravine ecosystems are highly dynamic and completely deformatted terrain landscape. In these regions, Indigenous plant species are playing significant role in environmental rehabilitation because of their exultant survival and high adaptation to local conditions. Despite this, very little information’s available about existence of medicinal plants on the typical ravine flora. The present study attempted to explore the diversity and distribution of medicinal plant flora in the Yamuna ravines of Agra (U.P) and Chambal ravines of Kota district (Rajasthan).

  • In the current context of eco-pollution, the substitute of conventional plastics with bioplastics is a big confront. On account of that, a non-growth associated PHB production study was conducted using Zobellella species under submerged fermentation process. As a result, Zobellella species showed the ability to accumulate 2.2g/L of PHB at pH 8. 0, temperature 37oC, salt concentration 2% in modified growth medium containing vitamins. Then, primary structural characterization of extracted polymer was conducted by FTIR analysis. The high intense peak was obtained at 1720.
