Spectrometry separation method

In this study, antimicrobial nanofibers were produced with the mixtures of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and cyclotide-rich fractions by electrospinning method. After extraction, the first separation was carried out with C18 flash chromatography and then fractioned into five separate parts by reversed-phase high-pressure liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC). The molecular weights of cyclotides in each fraction were determined by quadrupole time-of-flight liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (Q-TOF LC-MS).

The ultrasound-assisted emulsification–solidified floating organic drop microextraction (USAE–SFODME) methodology was combined with flow injection–lame atomic absorption spectrometry (FI–FAAS) for the separation/preconcentration and determination of palladium at ultratrace level. In this method, the palladium ion in the aqueous solution was complexed with acetylacetone (6 × 10−3 mol L−1) in the pH range of 1–7 and was extracted into 40 µL of 1-undecanol, which was sonically dispersed in the aqueous phase.

The metal complexes are retained on resin at pH 6.0 and eluted with 1.0 mol L −1 HCl in acetone in both methods. After the optimum conditions were determined, the methods were applied to seawater, stream water, rice, lentil, tea, tobacco, bulgur, chickpea, wheat, red pepper, black pepper, peppermint, and dried eggplant samples in order to determine the levels of copper and cadmium.

Cloud point extraction (CPE), which is the most popular coacervate-based extraction method, was utilized for the separation and preconcentration of trace amounts of cadmium, lead, and nickel. Quinalizarin was used as complexing agent and Triton X-114 was used as surfactant. After extraction, analyte ions were determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. The detection limits (3 s) of 1.8 µg L −1 for Cd(II), 3.2 µg L −1 for Pb(II), and 2.8 µg L −1 for Ni(II) were obtained using 50 mL of solutions.

This study is the development of a new solid phase extraction method based on using magnetic multiwalled carbon nanotubes impregnated with 1-(2-pyridylazo)2-naphthol (PAN) for separation, preconcentration, and flame atomic absorption spectrometric determination of Pb(II) and Cu(II). Optimization of the method was done by investigating pH effect, amount of magnetic multiwalled carbon nanotubes impregnated with PAN, eluent type and volume, matrix effects, and volume of the sample. The optimum adsorbent amount was found to be 75 mg and the optimum pH value was found as 5.5.

A novel simple, direct and selective gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC/MS) procedure was developed for the determination of the antihistamine drug dimenhydrinate (DMH) in presence of six of its related substances and potential impurities, namely, diphenylmethane, diphenylmethanol, benzophenone, orphenadrine, caffeine and 8-chlorocaffeine. The fluorination of perlite granules and the immobilization of ZnO nanoparticles on the perlite surface were carried out at the same time by a simple impregnation method to create new highly photocatalytic materials which are easily separated from reaction solutions after treatment. The influence of perlite fluorination on the crystal structure, morphology, UVvisible absorption, and surface functional groups of ZnO, as well as on the ZnO content on perlite, was respectively characterized by XRD, FE-SEM, UV-Visible diffuse reflectance, FTIR and atomic absorption spectrometry.
