An experiment was conducted at the State Horticulture Farm Kanyakumari in eighteen regular off-season bearing varieties where flowering is observed during August, September, October, November months with the fruiting period during December-January were selected for this study. The off-season bearing varieties are Neelum, Kalepad, Bangalora, Banganapalli, Himayuddin, Nadan, Panchavarnam, Rumani, Dilpasand, Kalkachi, Jehangir, Pairi, Panikanadan, Khudadad, Athimathuram, Mulgoa, Alphonso and Surangudi.

Rice is the staple food for Telangana, requires about 50 lakh tons annually to feed the population. Rice is being cultivated both in kharif and rabi season as one of the most important crop in Telangana. During the year, 2016-17 rice crop was grown in an area of about 12.2 lakh hectares and produced 47.6 lakh tons of rice with the productivity of 3902 kg/ha.

Floriculture has emerged as an important sub-sector of agriculture as a source of income for small and marginal farmers. In India, Tamil Nadu state is the leading producer of jasmine with an annual production of 77,247 tonnes from the cultivated area of 9,360 ha. In Madurai District of TamilNadu, jasmine is being cultivated in an area of 1,250 hectares with an average productivity of 7.85 tonnes per hectare and is famous for its GI product Madurai Malli. Even though the area is more the scientific way of cultivation is poor.

The main objective of the present study was isolation and molecular identification of Genus Salmonella in diarrheic captive Asian elephants (Elephas maximus) of Tamil Nadu state. Isolation and identification of Genus Salmonella was carried out in both fresh water and dung samples from diarrhoeic cases of captive elephants (n=8), using culturing method and PCR technique. Out of the dung (n=8) and water (n=8) samples, 25.00% (n=2) of water samples as well as 25.00% (n=2) of the dung samples were found to be positive for Genus Salmonella organisms.

The sandal spike disease is becoming serious threat to sandal cultivation in the southern states viz., Karnataka, Tamilnadu and Kerala. The high price of Sandal wood declared by the government of Karnataka and liberalization for the private cultivation of Sandal by valid license from the forestry department has encouraged the farmers to go for planting of Sandal on even very fertile soils. A number of Sandal plantations have also come up Karnataka. The disease incidence and prevalence in farmer’s sandal plantations was assessed by using complete enumeration method.
