Group IID secretory phospholipase A2 (sPLA2-IID), a heparin-binding sPLA2 that is closely related to sPLA2-IIA, augments stimulus-induced cellular arachidonate release in a manner similar to sPLA2-IIA. Here we identified the residues of sPLA2-IID that are responsible for heparanoid binding, are and therefore essential for cellular function.

Here, we show that recombinant bovine PDE5A1 is pro-teolysedby recombinant caspase-3 inin vitroand transfected Cos-7 cells. In addition, the treatment of PDE5A1-trans-fectedCos-7andPC12cellswithstaurosporine, anapoptotic agent that activates endogenous caspase-3, also induced proteolysis and inactivation of PDE5A1. These findings suggest that there is specificity in the interaction between caspase-3 and PDE5A1 that requires application of an apoptotic stimulus.

NF-jB essential modulator (NEMO) plays an essential role in the nuclear factor jB (NF-jB) pathway as a modulator of the two other subunits of the IjB kinase (IKK) complex, i.e. the protein kinases, IKKa and IKKb. Previous reports all envision the IKK complex to be a static entity. Using glycerol-gradient ultracentrifugation, we observed stimulus-dependent dynamic IKK complex assembly.

Tristetraprolin is a zinc-finger-containing RNA-binding protein. Tristetra-prolin binds to AU-rich elements of target mRNAs such as proto-onco-genes, cytokines and growth factors, and then induces mRNA rapid degradation. It was observed as an immediate-early gene that was induced in response to several kinds of stimulus, such as insulin and other growth factors and stimulators of innate immunity such as lipopolysaccharides.
