The rationale for this study is that the social enterprise sector provides an important locale in which to situate research that aims to identify the impact of ICTs on development. Recognising the complex dynamics and range of actors involved in this diverse and emerging area of development practice, this study chooses to focus on the social enterprise sector. It is specifically concerned with mapping the external influences, use and impact of ICT on social enterprises in Cambodia.

"Doctoral thesis of Philosophy: Empirical analysis of stock return synchronicity comparison of developed and emerging markets" is divided into eight chapters. Chapter two contains a literature review and chapter three explains the methodology and the data used in the thesis. Chapters four, five and six use the three different synchronicity measures in an analysis of emerging and developed markets. A comparison between the three synchronicity measures is provided in chapter seven.

This thesis is organized as a historical study which aims to investigate the development of the accounting profession in Thailand between 1948 and 2010. It includes critical views from relevant people in the profession. The thesis emphasizes the development of the accounting profession in the private sector (corporate sector) (such as listed companies, accounting associations, and the stock exchange) where the accounting profession has played a significant role in the development of the Thai economy.

With a view of providing investors with a better understanding of the risk and return relationship in the A-share market over the past decade, this thesis adapts several empirical models to the circumstances in China and conducts four empirical analyses. The analysis is undertaken employing the returns on the Chinese A-share market, the Chinese B-share market and the Hong Kong H-share market together with a series of developed stock markets.

The overall objective of the thesis is to evaluate the factors affecting the debt maturity structure for the case of companies listed on the Vietnamese stock market. In addition, the idea considers the moderating role of institutional quality, financial development, and long-term financing sources of the economy on the influence of debt ratio on the debt maturity structure for the case of listed companies on the Vietnamese stock market. The thesis provides policy implications for company managers and policymakers.

This paper examines episodes of banking sector distress for a large sample of countries, highlighting the experience of Japan. We estimate a model that links the onset of banking problems to a set of macroeconomic variables and institutional characteristics. The model predicts a high probability of banking sector distress in Japan in the early 1990s, matching actual developments closely, and suggests that the Japanese episode fits a well-established pattern characterizing banking sector problems elsewhere.
