The paper proposes an empirical VAR for the UK open economy in order to measure the effects of monetary policy shocks from 1981 to 2003. The identification of the VAR structure is based on short-run restrictions that are consistent with the general implications of a New Keynesian model. The identification scheme used in the paper is successful in identifying monetary policy shocks and solving the puzzles and anomalies regarding the effects of monetary policy shocks.

Objectives: In pointing out this topic, we focus on surveying some language - cultural characteristics of Nghe Tinh agriculture vovabulary on basic aspects (structure, semantics - identification, culture) for vocabulary classes have been surveyed in agreement with certain criterias. The specific vocabulary classes are: class of tools, instruments, varieties or breeds, farmlands; class of agricultural processes and activities; class of products and finished products; class of environment, seasonal.

The synthesis, structural identification of four novel cobalt and ironbased metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), named VNU-10 (cobalt-based MOF), VNU-15 (iron-based MOF, VNU = Vietnam National University), Fe-NH2-BDC and Fe-BTC have been done by single crystal x-ray diffraction. Full characterization and application of VNU-10, VNU-15 were undertaken, while preliminary characterizations have been done for Fe-NH2-BDC and Fe-BTC.

N-Acetylglucosamine is a major component of com-plex carbohydrates. The mammalian salvage pathway of N-acetylglucosamine recruitment from glycoconjugate deg-radation or nutritional sources starts with phosphorylation byN-acetylglucosamine kinase. In this studywe describe the identification of two active site cysteines of the sugar kinase by site-directed mutagenesis and computer-based structure prediction.

Structurally tachykinin-related peptides have been isolated fromvarious invertebrate species and shown to exhibit their biological activities through a G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) for a tachykinin-related peptide. In this paper, we report the identification of a novel tachykinin-related pep-tide receptor, the urechistachykinin receptor (UTKR) from the echiuroidworm,Urechis unitinctus.

The invertebrate nuclear receptor, ultraspiracle (USP), an ortholog of the vertebrate RXR, is typically modelled as an orphan receptor that functions without a ligand-binding activity. The identification of a ligand that can transcrip-tionally activate USP would provide heuristic leads to the structure of potentially high affinity activating compounds, with which to detect unknown regulatory pathways in which this nuclear receptor participates.

Antimicrobial peptides form one of the first lines of defense against invading pathogens by killing the microorganisms and/ormobilizing the host innate immune system. Although over 800 antimicrobial peptides have been isolated from many different species, especially insects, few have been reported frommarinefish. Sequenceanalysisof twogenomic clones (15.6 and 12.5 kb) from the winter flounder, Pseudopleuronectes americanus(Walbaum) resulted in the identification of multiple clustered genes for novel pleuro-cidin-like antimicrobial peptides....

Although belonging to the widely investigated peroxidase superfamily, lactoperoxidase (LPO) and myeloperoxidase (MPO) share structural and functional features that make them peculiar with respect to other enzymes of the same group. A survey of the available literature on their catalytic intermediates enabled us to ask some questions that remained unanswered. These questions concern controver-sial features of theLPOandMPOcatalytic cycle, suchas the existence of Compound I and Compound II isomers and the identification of their spectroscopic properties....

The xylanase inhibitor protein I (XIP-I), recently identified in wheat, inhib-its xylanases belonging to glycoside hydrolase families 10 (GH10) and 11 (GH11). Sequence and structural similarities indicate that XIP-I is related to chitinases of family GH18, despite its lack of enzymatic activity. Here we report the identification and biochemical characterization of a XIP-type inhibitor from rice.

accharomyces cerevisiaeis a widely used host in the pro-ductionof therapeutic peptides andproteins.Herewe report the identification of a novel endoprotease in S. cerevisiae. It is encoded by the CYM1gene and is specific for the C-terminus of basic residues of heterologously expressed peptides. Gene disruption ofCYM1not only reduced the intracellular proteolysis, but also enhanced the secretion of heterologously expressed peptides such as growth hormone, pro-B-type natriuretic peptide and pro-cholecystokinin....

Conservation of microRNAs (miRNAs) among species suggests that they bear conserved biological functions. However, sequencing of new miRNAs has not always been accompanied by a search for orthologues in other spe-cies. I report herein the results of a systematic search for interspecies ortho-logues of miRNA precursors, leading to the identification of 35 human and 45 mouse new putative miRNA genes. MicroRNA tracks were written to visualize miRNAs in human and mouse genomes on the UCSC Genome Browser....
