D-arabinitol is a sugar alcohol that is a typical metabolite of Candida species. The hydroxy group owned by D-arabinitol can function as a reducing agent that can reduce Ag+ to AgNPs. The resulting colloid is further stabilized by the addition of a capping agent. The capping agent used in this study was a combination of chitosan 1%(w/w) and PEG 6000 1% (w/w) (2:1) v/v. The formation of AgNPs causes an increase in the surface plasmon resonance spectra of the colloid solution at a wavelength of 430 nm with a slight blue shift.

Results showed that increasing in rotational speed from 0 rpm to 200 rpm converted cellulose-producing cells to non-cellulose-producing ones, leading to a significant decline in BC film formation. The increase in initial inoculum size from 0.01 g/L to 0.1 g/L reduced sugar concentration and surface area of the medium, and therefore inhibiting the formation of film-like cellulosic biomass.

The highest significant values of total soluble sugars and their fractions were noted in explant stage. Embryogenic callus stage induced a significant increase in total soluble sugars, free amino acids, phenols and indoles concentrations as compared to callus and mature somatic embryo.

This callus was initiated from different zones: the basal part of the flower, the surface of the perianth segments, carpels and the receptacle. Meanwhile, direct shoot and somatic embryos were only obtained by cultured explants on different concentrations of ABA which contained the highest concentration of total soluble sugars and their fractions.

Tetra–n-butylammonium bromide modified sugar beet pulp (TBAB–SBP) with good biosorption and regeneration potential was prepared for removal of dye from contaminated solutions. The decolorization performance of TBAB–SBP was investigated using Reactive Yellow 2 (RY2) as a model dye. The characterization of the modified biosorbent was investigated by IR, SEM, zeta potential, and BET surface area analysis to discuss the decolorization mechanism. The effects of initial pH, biosorbent amount, contact time, dye concentration, and flow rate on the treatment process were examined.

This study intended to focus on the effect of different levels of NaCl (0–400 mM, at regular intervals every 100 mM) on the growth, secondary metabolites, and antioxidant enzyme activities of Polygonum equisetiforme, a wild plant with medicinal and industrial uses, which often grows in harsh environmental conditions. Our results showed that biomass production significantly decreased with salinity, while the leaf relative water content declined only at high levels of NaCl concentration (300–400 mM).

The study revealed a significant increase in acidity and reducing sugars. There was a significant decrease in antioxidant activity, HMF concentration, pH, total sugars, ascorbic acid content and overall acceptability of the beverage. The beverage showed an increased microbial count making the beverage unacceptable after six days of storage.

Linseed is one of the most important crops and it has exceptionally high content of AlphaLinolenic acid, dietary fiber, high quality protein, phytoestrogens and minerals especially phosphorus, magnesium and calcium. To increase the uptake of linseed, value addition is attempted. Standardization of protocol was carried out based on pH, titrable acidity and sensory characteristics for the parameters - seed processing technique, substrate, sugar, inoculum, honey concentrations, incubation temperature and fermentation duration using Lactobacillus acidophilus and Saccharomyces ellipsoideus.

The present study was conducted to develop a blended beverage using orange juice and herbal infusion such as basil, rosemary and oregano at different concentrations of 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 per cent with sugar and water. From the organoleptic values of three levels of herbal infusion incorporated orange squashes, 2 per cent of herbal infusion found optimum as 3 percent showed bitter taste and 1 per cent showed no difference with control (orange squash).

Fig rust caused by Cerotelium fici is one of the most important fungal diseases on Ficus carica responsible for about 50 per cent losses both in terms of yield and quality of the produce. The fungal spore germination is affected by the nutrient availability and environmental factors like temperature and relative humidity. Therefore, an experiment was conducted with respect to the uredospore germination of C. fici at different concentrations of sugars, temperature and relative humidity

The present study was carried out to investigate the effect of solution concentration, immersion time, process temperature and slices thickness on osmotic dehydration of apple slices. The osmotic dehydration characteristics such as water loss (WL), weight reduction (WR) and solid gain (SG) were studied for sugar solution of (50 and 70 ºBrix) at a temperature of (30 °C and 50 °C) for 8 hours of immersion time.

The chickpea genotype ICCV 5530, which is moderately resistant and ICCV 4991, susceptible to Ascochyta rabiei were selected to identify the changes in biochemical activity in response to infection by the fungus Ascochyta rabiei. Twelve day old seedlings were inoculated with spore suspension of the pathogen at 5 × 104 spore/ml concentration using a Haemocytometer and incubated under Controlled Environmental Facility (CEF). Sampling was done at 2, 4 and 8 days after inoculation.
