Summer weight gain

African marigold (Tagetes erecta L.) is a herbaceous annual flowering plant belonging to family Asteraceae. Apart from its popular use in landscape gardening and garland making, it is now gaining popularity as a natural source of food colour. It is found in different colour shades of yellow and orange with different fragrance. A study was conducted in summer rice fallows of Wayanad during 2016-17 to evaluate the performance of 3 hybrids of marigold based on vegetative, flowering and yield characters.

There is growing evidence that school children in the United States gain weight more rapidly during the summer than the school year, but few studies have explored the causes of this phenomenon. The goal of this study was to qualitatively explore potential determinants of accelerated summer weight gain by interviewing parents of school-age children.

Correlation and path coefficients analysis can helps to assess the mutual relationship between various plant characters and determines component characters on which selection can be based or improvement in yield. Twenty four genotypes of bitter gourd were evaluated for yield contributing characters to observe their associations and direct and indirect effect on fruit yield at College of Horticulture, Mudigere during summer 2017-18.

It has been documented, for example, that high maternal pre-pregnancy weight and excessive weight gain during pregnancy are often associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes, including greater risks of gestational diabetes, childbirth complications, caesarean sections, hypertension and pre-eclampsia, and post-partum obesity. Women with severe (morbid) obesity are more likely to experience even poorer outcomes such as stillbirths or neonatal deaths.
