The metal aluminium (Al) is a well-documented neurotoxin and has been known to exacerbate excitotoxicity within the human nervous system. This present research is aimed and intended at assessing the neuroprotective effect of eugenol (EG) against the toxic effects of aluminium chloride (AlCl3) in vivo using Wistar rats as a study model.

The aim of the present study was to clarify the effects of silymarin on experimental testicular ischemia / reperfusion injury. A total of 40 Wistar albino rats (10–12 weeks of age, weighing 280–300 g) were randomly divided into five groups. Control group: No surgical procedures were performed. Torsion 3 h / detorsion 3 h group; torsion 3 h / detorsion 24 h group; torsion 3 h / detorsion 3 h + silymarin (250 mg/kg) group; and torsion 3 h / detorsion 24 h + silymarin (250 mg/kg) group. In the study, 720° torsion was applied to the left testicle.

The effects of an aminoglycoside antibiotic, streptomycin, on survival rate, development time, and adult longevity of Drosophila melanogaster (Diptera: Drosophilidae) were examined by adding on the artificial diet at different concentrations in laboratory condition. The effect of streptomycin on malondialdehyde (MDA) and protein carbonyl (PCO) contents, superoxide dismutase (SOD), and catalase (CAT) activities in all developmental stages of D. melanogaster was also investigated.

Ferulic acid (FA; 3-methoxy-4-hydroxycinnamic acid) can eliminate stress-induced damage because of its ability to induce antioxidant activity under stress. The aim of this study was to identify the effects of FA on water status, antioxidant system, and lipid peroxidation in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) roots exposed to boron (B) stress. Plants were grown in hydroponic culture containing the combination or alone form of 25–75 μM FA and 4–8 mM B. Stress significantly decreased growth (RGR), water content (RWC), proline content (Pro), and osmotic potential (YP).

One of the major effects of salt stress is high production of reactive oxygen species that adversely affect essential cellular metabolic pathways. To limit the elevated production of reactive oxygen species, plants stimulate various types of antioxidants. In this study, sulfur was used to induce tolerance against oxidative stress through modulation of the activities of various antioxidants. Two maize genotypes (Agatti 2003 and Pak Afgoi 2003) were subjected to different salinity (25 and 75 mM) and sulfur (40 and 80 mM) treatments and a control treatment.

The obtained results show that FeNPs added to MS medium was higher growth, chlorophyll (a, b and a+b) content, antioxidant activity of SOD and APX enzymesthan Fe-EDTA in MS medium as control treatment. The effect of FeNPs are differences between culture systems. In vitro solid and microponic culture systems, the optimal concentration is 75 mM FeNPs and in vitro hydroponic culture system is 100 mM FeNPs.
