  • Problem statement: Dilute sulphuric acid and enzymatic hydrolysis methods were used for sugar extraction. Xylose and glucose sugars were obtained from corn cobs. Approach: Acid hydrolysis of corn cobs gave higher amount of sugars than enzymatic hydrolysis. Results: The results showed that optimal temperature and time for sugar fermentation were approximately 25°C and 50 h by two yeast strains (S. cerevisiae and P. Stipitis) respectively.

  • Study of the effect of Nd substitution for La on magnetocaloric effect (MCE) of polycrystalline perovskites (La1-xNdx)0.7Sr0.3MnO3 (x = 0.0, 0.2 , 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0 ) is presented. Large MCE is observed in all samples.   • This study shows that WSSV infection in kuruma shrimp is temperature dependent and shrimp was highly susceptible to WSSV infection at around 25oC. Low temperature (15oC) reduces rather than stop WSSV replication in infected shrimp. Shrimp at 15oC may act a carrier of WSSV and could spread the disease if water temperature is increased.

  • The influence of fabricating conditions such as gelization, sintering temperature on crystallinity was studied. The result showed that Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 was in single phase when compenstation amount of Na in gelization is 40 mol%; sintering temperature higher than 800 oC and sintering time is 2 h. The bandgap of Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 which estimated from absorption spectroscopy is in the range of 3.01 - 3.18 eV.

  • The gas-sensing performance of the SnO2 nanowires sensors annealed at different temperatures have also investigated. The results revealed that the annealed temperatures of 400 C and 500 oC do not affected on gas-sensing performance of SnO2 nanowires sensors, while the annealed temperature of 600oC results in strong decrease in NO2 gas response as compared with as-grown SnO2 nanowires sensor.
