Testing the speaking skills
-
The Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) is "an English language test designed specifically to measure the everyday English skills of people working in an international environment."The TOEIC Speaking & Writing Test was introduced in 2006. Test takers receive separate scores for each of the two tests, or can take the Speaking test without taking the Writing test. The Speaking test assesses pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, and fluency, while the Writing test examines vocabulary, grammar, and overall coherence and organization.

This research is aimed to find out the mistakes students at Asian High School (AHS) usually have while they have a Listening test. Since their faults happen quite a lot when they build an academic essay, this research also gives students best methods to improve their listening skills. Because of serious misunderstanding between vocabularies, grammars and styles of person speaking and the accent, this research points out types of person speaking, accent, and style which are demonstrated in this study as well.

We will divide freshmen into groups: one exposed to curated English videos on Facebook and another with no intervention. Both groups will take speaking tests before and after. By analyzing these tests, we aim to see if the Facebook group improves their fluency, vocabulary, and pronunciation, promoting better English proficiency.

There aren’t still the exact criteria for measuring speaking skills as well as the weighting given to such components as correct pronunciation. The interdependence of the speaking and listening skill increases the difficulty of any serious attempt to analyze precisely what is being tested at one time. Administration is another difficulty as it is impossible to test a large number of students because of limited time involved
