The distance function

In the first part of this paper, the Kriging metamodeling technique will be briefly reviewed. Then, we present a new learning function by accounting for the distance constraint in the selection process of the new training points (TPs) to enrich the Design of Experiment (DoE) of the built surrogate.

This research investigates the relationship between post fault transient overvoltages and the functionality of the digital distance protection. The study is conducted in a 66kV network with a neutral earth resistor as method to earth the power system. This paper begins by performing an extensive power system analysis on ground fault transient overvoltages. The study is conducted by using the PSCAD-EMTC software package.

To create global map we take obstacles as natural landmarks, it is however necessary to find the correspondences between landmarks by use of a Bhatacharayya distance. Our experiments demonstrate the functionality of estimating the exact pose of the robot and the consistence of the global map of the environment.

Conformational analysis of angiotensin I (AI) and II (AII) peptides has been performed through 2D 1 H-NMRspectro-scopy in dimethylsulfoxide and 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol/H2 O. The solution structural models of AI and AII have been determined in dimethylsulfoxide using NOE distance and 3 JHNHacoupling constants. Finally, theAI family of models resulting from restrained energy minimization (REM) refinement, exhibits pairwise rmsd values for the family ensemble 0.26 ± 0.13 A ˚,1.05 ± 0.23 A ˚, for backbone and heavy atoms, respectively, and the distance penalty function is calculated at 0.

Brachytherapy Brachytherapy is the direct implantation of radioactive sources into the prostate. It is based on the principle that the deposition of radiation energy in tissues decreases as a function of the square of the distance from the source (Chap. 81). The goal is to deliver intensive irradiation to the prostate, minimizing the exposure of the surrounding tissues. The current standard technique achieves a more homogeneous dose distribution by placing seeds according to a customized template based on CT and ultrasonographic assessment of the tumor and computer-optimized dosimetry.

Spheroidal Coordinates and Wave Functions 2.1 SPHEROIDAL COORDINATE SYSTEMS Prolate and oblate spheroidal coordinate systems are formed by rotating the two-dimensional elliptic coordinate system, consisting of confocal ellipses and hyperbolas, about the major and minor axes of the ellipses, respectively [l] (shown in Figs. 2.1 and 2.2, where d is the interfocal distance).
