The orientation activity at the beginning of the school year is one of the important sessions for medical students, especially first-year students. Well-oriented medical students will contribute to training appropriate future medical human resources, especially in preventive medicine and public health with the motto that prevention is better than cure. To describe career orientation and feedback on the first-year orientation activities of medical students at the School of Preventive Medicine and Public Health in 2022.

Metformin is an oral antidiabetic drug from the biguanide class and it is the first-line drug chosen for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. This is a drug on the list of pharmaceutical substances required to report bioequivalence study data when registering the drug. Objectives: (1) To develope a capillary zone electrophoresis method for determining metformin hydrochloride in human plasma. (2) To validate the method.

Glofish is the first transgenic animal approved to be consumed by human in the USA The insertion of different constructs of GFP into the fish genomes to give different green colors. The idea for recombinant DNA was first proposed by Peter Lobban, a graduate student of Prof. Dale Kaiser in the Biochemistry Department at Stanford University Medical School. The first publications describing the successful production and intracellular replication of recombinant DNA appeared in 1972 and 1973.

The first humanlike creatures appeared in Africa four million years ago. Early humans left no written records. Without such records, archaeologists and anthropologists have had to rely on fossils, artifacts, and skeletal remains to develop theories about their lives. Researchers have concluded that the earliest humans lived as hunters and gatherers and focused on basic needs. Only millions of years later did they develop the skills and tools necessary to engage in agriculture and to build the first civilizations.

This study contributes to the existing literature in several ways. First of all, this is the first study to explore the changes in disclosure practices driven by IFRS adoption in terms of HCE. Although some prior literature anticipates these changes, so far no study has provide the empirical evidence.

The work presented in this thesis illustrates strategies to improve the detection of glucose by NanoZymes. This was done by first determining the NanoZyme activity of Cu and bimetallic nanoparticles of Cu, followed by the application of this activity towards biosensing of glucose.

The aim of this research study "Exploring human resource management practices: an empirical study of the performing arts companies in Australia" is to explore HRM practices in the performing arts companies in Australia, using a qualitative research design and two phases of data collection. Firstly, interviews were conducted, with the overall objective to acquire richer data from key stakeholders on the perceived HRM practices in the performing arts sector, and the associated impact of the environment, for example, policy context and funding arrangements.

Quantifying the multiple processes which control and modulate the extent of oral bioavailability for drug candidates is critical to accurate projection of human pharmacokinetics (PK). Understanding how gut wall metabolism and hepatic elimination factor into first-pass clearance of drugs has improved enormously. Typically, the cytochrome P450s, uridine 5′- diphosphate-glucuronosyltransferases and sulfotransferases, are the main enzyme classes responsible for drug metabolism. Knowledge of the isoforms functionally expressed within organs of first-pass clearance, their anatomical topology (e.

The scope of research examining the meaning and meaningfulness of work is rather broad; I therefore believe it is necessary to first provide an overview of research approaches before describing my own approach. Depending on the definition of the concept of the meaning of work they used, researchers took various approaches. According to one group of researchers, the meaning of work and the meaningfulness of work is necessarily a subjective matter, with the meaning of work defined intrinsically (coming from the individual) (e.g. Simon, 1997; Isaksen, 2000).

The following sections outline and analyze the key differences between financial advisors and Robo-Advisors. First with a comparison of fees, the different advisors are compared, contrasted, and the implications of different fee structures analyzed. Second with comparisons of performance and an overview of the different financial instruments and strategies used by advisors. Third is an overview of the customization ability for both human and Robo-Advisors. Ending with a conclusion outlining the key points made throughout the thesis.

This study explains the effects of repatriates on managers returning from foreign assignments. The first chapter provides the reader with an introduction to my chosen topic, the justification of undertaking the topic and my research objectives. The second chapter explains the research methodology, my questionnaire design and the problems I encountered when gathering information. The study goes on to explain the expatriation/repatriation process in detail. It begins with the selection criteria needed for expatriation and goes on to criticize it.

Of the millions who saw Haley’s comet in 1986, how many people will live long enough to see it return in the twenty-first century. 3. Anthropologists have discovered that fear, happiness, sadness, and surprise are universally reflected in facial expressions. 4. Because of its irritating effect on humans, the use of phenol as a general antiseptic has been largely discontinued. 5.

Thea-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (aMSH) receptor (MC1R) is amajordeterminant ofmammalianskinandhair pigmentation. Binding ofaMSHtoMC1Rinhuman mel-anocytes stimulates cell proliferation and synthesis of pho-toprotective eumelanin pigments. Certain MC1Ralleles have been associated with increased riskof melanoma. This can be theoretically considered on two grounds. First, gain-of-function mutations may stimulate proliferation, thus promoting dysplastic lesions.

Thefushi tarazu factor 1 (FTZ-F1) nuclear receptor sub-family comprises orphan receptors with crucial roles in development and sexual differentiation in vertebrates and invertebrates. We describe the structure and functional properties of an FTZ-F1 from the platyhelminth parasite of humans,Schistosoma mansoni, the first receptor from this family tobe characterized inaLophotrochozoan. It contains awell conservedDNA-binding domain (55–63%identity to other family members) and a poorly conserved ligand-binding domain (20% identity to that of zebrafish FF1a)....

One-electron oxidation of six different c-type lysozymes from hen egg white, turkey egg white, human milk, horse milk, camel stomach and tortoise was studied by gamma-and pulse-radiolysis.In the first step, one tryptophan side chain is oxidized to indolyl free radical, which is produced quantitatively. As shown already, the indolyl radical subse-quently oxidizes a tyrosine side chain to the phenoxy radical in an intramolecular reaction. However this reaction is not total and its stoichiometry depends on the protein.Rate constants also vary between proteins, from 120Æs )1 to 1000Æs )1 at pH 7.

Complement regulator C4b-binding protein (C4BP) and the anticoagulant vitamin K-dependent protein S form a high affinity complexin human plasma. C4BP is composed of sevena-chains and a uniqueb-chain, each chain comprising repeating complement control protein (CCP) modules. The binding site for protein S mainly involves the first of the threeb-chain CCPs (CCP1). However, recently it has been suggested that CCP2 of theb-chain also contributes to the binding of proteinS.

Galactokinase (EC 2.7.1.6) catalyzes the first committed step in the catabolism of galactose. The sugar is phosphor-ylated at position 1 at the expense of ATP. Lack of fully functional galactokinase is one cause of the inherited disease galactosemia, the main clinical manifestation of which is early onset cataracts. Human galactokinase (GALK1) was expressed in and purified fromEscherichia coli. The recom-binant enzyme was both soluble and active.

Acetylcholinesterase is an enzyme whose best-known function is to hydro-lyze the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Acetylcholinesterase is expressed in several noncholinergic tissues. Accordingly, we report for the first time the identification of acetylcholinesterase in human umbilical cord vein endo-thelial cells. Here we further performed an electrophoretic and biochemical characterization of this enzyme, using protein extracts obtained by solubili-zation of human endothelial cell membranes with Triton X-100. ...
