The present study is going to fill in the gap by performing a review on the typical standard equations for the moment modification factors of simply supported beams and fixed beams subjected to an arbitrary point load. Also, a detail comparison between the equations will be discussed and key warnings will be made.

In this paper, analytical and numerical solutions are developed for the pile with a rectangular cross-section under vertical load in layered soils. The rectangular cross-section is considered as a circular cross-section with a proposed formulation of equivalent radius.

A hybrid analytical-numerical solution is proposed to solve the problem of a laterally loaded pile with a circular cross-section in multilayered soils. In the pile-soil model, the lateral load is located at the pile head including both lateral force and bending moment. The single pile is considered as a beam on elastic foundation while shear beams model the soil column below the pile toe.

We present a generalized three-variable high order shear deformation theory (THSDT) using isogeometric analysis (IGA) to analyze free vibration of functionally graded porous (FGP) plates reinforced by graphene platelets (GPLs) in this work. It is named as FGP-GPLs for a short. The proposed theory only has got three degrees of freedom (DOFs) per node as the same way of numerically solutions in three-dimensional (3D) solids.

In this article, an efficient numerical approach for weight optimisation of functionally graded (FG) beams in the presence of frequency constraints is presented. For the analysis purpose, a finite element (FE) solution based on the first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) is established to analyse the free vibration behaviour of FG beams.

Unsaturated soil behaviors characterize the failure mechanisms of geotechnical infrastructures with transient seepage conditions. Therefore, an accurate estimate of the unsaturated groundwater flow is vital in improving hazard management and assessment. This study attempts to develop a numerical scheme for 2-D transient analysis under unsaturated conditions.

The motion equation of a one-degree-of-freedom system when subjected to earthquakes is usually not solved by analytic methods. This problem can only be solved through the time step method, when integrating differential equations. This paper is devoted to presenting a numerical solution for a seismic analysis problem of a highway bridge pier with high damping rubber bearings under earthquakes.

In addition, we also show that our present solutions are valid for the problems of indentation by a rigid punch on an elastic half-space through a proper replacement of the contact radius and the corresponding material constant. Numerical results are provided to demonstrate the accuracy, applicability, and versatility of the developed solutions.

The dynamic analysis is a necessity in the design, manufacturing and maintenance of structures. The analytic solutions are not available for most practical cases and the Finite Element Method (FEM) is not reliable due to the joint problem, unclear loading, material properties and numerical error. In this paper, we present a way to find modes shape of 3D Frame by FEM program using Matlab.

In the course of current research the procedure of obtaining of the piecewise linear vibration systems time and frequency responses have been developed. The method is partly analytical and partly numerical and is based on combining of linear solutions of different sections in a cycle of motion. In a row with the method of obtaining of the exact steady state time and frequency response, also it is provided sensitivity analysis of the vibration isolator.

This paper presents a numerical solution for vibration analysis of cantilevered non-uniform trapezoidal thick plates. Based on the first shear deformation theory, kinetic and strain energies of the plate are derived and using Hamilton's principle, governing equations and boundary conditions are derived.

An analytical and numerical solution is developed for a transient heat conduction equation in which a plane slab is heated by a bimodal distribution beam over the upper surface. In laser heat treatment of steel few methods are used to produce a wider and nearly uniform average irradiance profile.

This paper presents an improved method based on the jacobian matrix and the error feedback. By using this method, the accuracy of the solution of inverse kinematics for the vehicle-manipulator system is improved. In addition, one of the advantages of a redundant system is exploited to avoid impact on joint limitations. Numerical simulations in software Matlab are carried out to verify the efficiencies of the proposed method.

In the paper we present a method for finding the weight vector called stencil with the help of RBF interpolation. This stencil is the foundation for constructing meshless finite difference scheme for boundary value problems. The results of numerical experiments show that the numerical solution obtained by RBF-FD with the stencils generated by Gauss RBF interpolation is much more accurate then the solution obtained by FEM.

In this paper, finite difference schemes are proposed to approximate solutions of stochastic advection-diffusion equations. We used central-difference formula of third-order to approximate spatial derivatives. The stability, consistency and convergence of the scheme are analysed and established. A numerical result is also given to demonstrate the computational efficiency of the stochastic schemes.

ONE PARAMETER FAMILY OF LINEAR DIFFERENCE EQUATIONS AND THE STABILITY PROBLEM FOR THE NUMERICAL SOLUTION OF ODEs L. ACETO, R. PANDOLFI, AND D. TRIGIANTE Received 21 July 2004; Accepted 4 October 2004 The study of the stability properties of numerical methods leads to considering linear difference equations depending on a complex parameter q. Essentially, the associated characteristic polynomial must have constant type for q ∈ C− . Usually such request is proved with the help of computers.
