  • Understanding user’s behavior in buildings is crucial since user behavior significantly contributes to the overall building’s energy consumption. Therefore, this study aims to identify a user’s pro-environmental behavior, in particular, the energy conservation behavior (ECB) of university users in Kuwait. For this reason, this study creates a model whereby two variables, namely, environmental knowledge and awareness of consequences, are introduced and incorporated into the existing theory of planned behavior (TPB).

  • A long-term goal of our work is to develop the basic control theory for me- chanical systems, and Lagrangian systems in particular. There are several reasons why mechanical systems are good candidates for new results in nonlinear control. On the practical end, mechanical systems are often quite well identified, and ac- curate models exist for specific systems, such as robots, airplanes, and spacecraft. Furthermore, instrumentation of mechanical systems is relatively easy to achieve and hence modern nonlinear techniques (which often rely on full state feedback) can be readily applied.

  • Research suggests that non-expert individuals are typically overconfident; they overestimate the quality of their own abilities or knowledge (Svenson 1981, Weinstein 1980) and state extreme probabilities more often than they should. Work in economic theory, particularly with business-related forecasting, has provided further support for this behavioral phenomenon (Camerer and Lovallo, 1999). The reasons for overconfidence when answering trivia questions are a subject of intense debate among decision theorists (Ayton and McClelland 1997). Three prominent explanations have emerged.

  • Price theory is made richer by the fact that each individual’s choices can affect the opportunities available to others. If you decide to eat all of the cake, your roommate cannot decide to eat some too. An equilibrium is an outcome in which each person’s behavior is compatible with the restrictions imposed by everybody else’s behavior. In many situations, it is possible to say both that there is only one possible equilibrium and that there are good reasons to expect that equilibrium to actually come about. This enables the economist to make predictions about the world....
