Three functional levels
-
Genre analysis is one of the levels of discourse analysis in the light of Systemic Functional Linguistics. Martin (2007) proposed three strata in approaching discourse including the context of culture, situation, and discourse semantics (lexico-grammar). This paper examined the Generic Structure Potential (GSP) of Japanese precedents under the theory proposed by Hasan (1989) and then, provided some attention to characterizing other legal discourses.

If you want to improve your understanding of calculus, then this book is for you. It can supplement standard texts at the high-school senior, trade-school, and college undergraduate levels. It can also serve as a self-teaching or home-schooling supplement. Prerequisites include intermediate algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. It will help if you’ve had some precalculus (sometimes called “analysis”) as well. This book contains three major sections. Part 1 involves differentiation in one variable. Part 2 is devoted to integration in one variable.

Ebook "HOX gene expression (Molecular biology intelligence unit)" is crucial not only in exploring the enigma of homeosis but also in understanding normal development at the fundamental molecular level. "Hox Gene Expression" starts with the amazing discovery of the homeobox twenty-three years ago and follows the exciting path thereafter of a series of breakthroughs in Genetics, Development and Evolution. It deals with homeotic genes- their evolution, structure, normal and abnormal function.

This study casts light on the use of five inflectional morphemes, namely progressive/ present participle -ing, plural -s, past tense -ed (for both regular and irregular verbs), past participle -en and third-person -s by three candidates at three different band levels in the IELTS Speaking test. The candidates were to take part in a simulated IELTS Speaking test, and their performances were transcribed verbatim to calculate the error rate and overuse errors of the five morphemes.

In this paper, we improve the DFA algorithm to MDFA (MultiDetrended fluctuation analysis) to evaluate the possibility of arrhythmias RR intervals detail for each period of 20 minutes in entire RR intervals. Evaluation results are shown graphically intuitive with three levels of basic arrhythmia arrhythmia is high, medium and low arrhythmia.

The biological regulatory system is highly dynamic. Correlations between functionally related genes change over different biological conditions, which are often unobserved in the data. At the gene level, the dynamic correlations result in three-way gene interactions involving a pair of genes that change correlation, and a third gene that reflects the underlying cellular conditions.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune condition that results in pain and disability. Patients with RA have a decreased functional ability and are forced into a sedentary lifestyle and as such, these patients often become predisposed to poor bone health. Patients with RA may also experience a decreased health related quality of life (HRQoL) due to their disease.

Due to the pleiotropic effects of nitric oxide (NO) within the lungs, it is likely that NO is a significant factor in the pathogenesis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The aim of this study was to test for association between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in three NO synthase (NOS) genes and lung function, as well as to examine gene expression and protein levels in relation to the genetic variation.

One-in-three CEOs of Chinese manufacturing firms are engineers. Firms led by CEOs with professional certifications in engineering, are associated with greater innovation quality, indicating that on-the-job training in engineering produces human capital which fosters innovation. In addition, firms with Engineer CEOs don’t spend more on R&D comparing to others, which argues against the “functionally biased perception theory”. The result is more pronounced when CEOs have senior-level professional certifications in engineering.

Research in cell biology is steadily contributing new knowledge about many aspects of physiological processes, both with respect to the involved molecular structures as well as their related function. Illustrations of the spatio-temporal development of such processes are not only used in biomedical education, but also can serve scientists as an additional platform for in-silico experiments.
