Current opinions on whether surgical patients with cervical cancer should undergo para-aortic lymphadenectomy at the same time are inconsistent. The present study examined differences in survival outcomes with or without para-aortic lymphadenectomy in surgical patients with stage IB1-IIA2 cervical cancer.

Advocates of active monetary and fiscal policy view the economy as inherently unstable and believe policy can be used to offset this inherent instability. Critics of active policy emphasize that policy affects the economy with a lag and our ability to forecast future economic conditions is poor, both of which can lead to policy being destabilizing. Advocates of rules for monetary policy argue that discretionary policy can suffer from incompetence, abuse of power, and time inconsistency.

Chapter 8 - Behavioral economics: A closer look at decision making. In this chapter you will learn: What time inconsistency is and how it accounts for procrastination and other problems with selfcontrol, why sunk costs should not be taken into account in deciding what to do next, what types of opportunity cost people often undervalue and why undervaluing them distorts decision making,...

Preclinical evidence suggests that statins could delay cancer progression. Previous epidemiological findings have been inconsistent and some have been limited by small sample sizes, as well as certain time-related biases. This study aimed to investigate whether breast cancer patients who were exposed to statins had reduced breast cancer-specific mortality.

Chapter 8 - Behavioral economics. This chapter will define behavioral economics and explain how it contrasts with neoclassical economics. It will relate how prospect theory helps explain many consumer behaviors; and how time inconsistency and myopia cause people to make suboptimal long-run decisions. It will also define fairness and give examples of how it affects behavior in the economy.

Rice is the major crop cultivated during kharif in eastern region of India, particularly in Odisha. Inconsistent and erratic behaviour of monsoon, high input costs and low market price at farm gate for rice is becoming unremunerative at times. Crop diversification with high potential crops seems to be a viable solution for the above situations. Elephant foot yam is an important food crop with a variety of alternative uses, has not been tried much in this region.

An attempt has been made in the present paper to study the agroclimatic potential for the future periods from 2020 to 2099 with A1B-GHG ( Greenhouse Gas Emissions Scenarios) emission scenarios which have been derived from PRECIS (Providing Regional Climate for impact Studies). Rainfall data was used to estimate decadal change in the stable rainfall at various growth stages of transplanted rice of five different representative stations pertaining to Terai, Old Alluvial, New Alluvial, Red & Laterite, and Coastal Saline zones of West Bengal.

In this paper, a model is proposed that shows that even without information asymmetry and agency costs, there is a pronounced tendency for managers to underinvest due to a positive probability of their being replaced.

In Western Australia silage made from rye grass is the predominant summer feed for cows. It is most commonly mixed with cheap grain and to date this has proved to be an economical feed option. The primary advantage of this type of silage is that it improves pasture utilisation by conserving surplus pasture which is able to be fed out when there is a forage deficit. However, the disadvantage of this type of silage can be inconsistencies in its quality. The inconsistencies arise when excess pasture is preserved at different times during...

Down to the middle of the present century the story of Rembrandt, as generally accepted, was nothing but a mass of more or less ill-natured fiction. His drunkenness, his luxury, his immorality, his avarice, were heaped together into a somewhat inconsistent midden-heap of infamy.

To estimate equation (5) we have to take into account the potential endogeneity of financial performance and board appointment decisions. Furthermore, including the lagged dependent variable as an independent variable makes the fixed effects estimator not only biased, but also inconsistent. To overcome this problem an instrumental variables (IV) estimator could be used. However, appropriate governance instruments are not easy to find.

The power state of a laptop computer is usually difficult to determine, unless it is in use and obviously on. A closed laptop has few external indicators, and those that are present are often ambiguous and inconsistent (e.g., between brands or models). In terms of improving our estimates of laptop unit energy consumption, the most relevant data is the amount of time each laptop spends plugged in, and how often its battery is (re)charged. Therefore, we recorded, at a minimum, whether or not each laptop was plugged in. In this report...

The nitrite reductase (Nir) isolated fromPseudomonas chlororaphisDSM 50135 is a blue enzyme, with type 1 and type 2 copper centers, as in all copper-containing Nirs des-cribed so far. For the first time, a direct determination of the reduction potentials of both copper centers in a Cu-Nir was performed: type 2 copper (T2Cu), 172 mV and type 1 copper (T1Cu), 298 mV at pH 7.6.

Despite the standard definitions noted above, accurate identification of the causes of maternal deaths is not always possible. It can be a challenge for medical certifiers to attribute correctly cause of death to direct or indirect maternal causes, or to accidental or incidental events, particularly in settings where deliveries mostly occur at home. While several countries apply the ICD-10 in civil registration systems, the identification and classification of causes of death during pregnancy, childbirth and the puerperium remain inconsistent across countries.

THE following pages were written by request. They claim to give an accurate and impartial narrative of my four years' life while a cadet at West Point, as well as a general idea of the institution there. They are almost an exact transcription of notes taken at various times during those four years. Any inconsistencies, real or apparent, in my opinions or in the impressions made upon me, are due to the fact that they were made at different times at a place where the feelings of all were constantly undergoing material change....

The first prediction is that households facing self-control problems will tend to exhibit a decline in consumption between paydays. Intuitively, this is because dynamic inconsistency causes household members to repeatedly succumb to an urge for immediate consumption, and thus run out of money by the end of the pay period (the decline is exacerbated by an unwillingness or inability to borrow, an issue to which we return below).

On the other hand a model with dynamically inconsistent (quasi-hyperbolic) time preference can explain the decline, for reasonable short-term and long-term discount rates. We also investigate whether households in our sample appear to make an effort at self-control, using a strategy emphasized in the literature: a mental accounting rule that limits borrowing during the pay period and thus puts a cap on overspending. We find that households who are able to borrow, in the sense that they own a credit card, nevertheless exhibit the spending profile characteristic of credit constraints.
