Seed-borne rice endophytes are capable of disseminating into host plant tissues as well as to their rhizosphere. Here, we investigated the occurrence of siderophore-producing bacteria (SPB) in the seed endospheres of two distinct rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivars, TK8 (ssp. japonica) and TCN1 (ssp. indica), and their dissemination into the rhizospheres through culture-dependent methods.

Seed propagation of Mycetia balansae Drake is not easy, due to low germination rate and low viability, so it is very rare in nature. In order to conserve this plant as well as to use for commercial purposes in cooperation with Tue Linh Co.Ltd, providing a large number of plants is necessary and in vitro tissue culture technology could be solve this problem. Therefore, the study on "Callus induction and plant regeneration in vitro from leaf explants of mycetia balansae drake" was carried out.

Graphene oxide (GO) has been attracting tremendous attention in the past few years in various biomedical applications including; tissue engineering, cell culture, biosensing, bioimaging and therapeutics delivery due to unique features it possesses. In this thesis, we demonstrate the preparation of crumpled GO functionalized with polyethyleneimine (PEI) (CGO-PEI) via surface acoustic waves (SAW) to develop a nanotherapeutic delivery platform with efficient cellular uptake and good biocompatibility.

Pre-requisite for any plant biotechnological approach is development of an efficient plant regeneration system in that crop. In this regard the in vitro regeneration was achieved by using cotyledon explants from aseptically raised seedlings of popular Capsicum F1 hybrids Bharat and Indra. Seeds of both hybrids were exposed to different treatments for proper germination, were decontaminated and sown in vitro on half-strength MS medium.

Litchi is considered a crop difficult to propagate through micropropagation and obtaining contamination free cultures is first and foremost requirement of tissue culture. So the present investigation was carried out to standardize the sterilization procedure of nodal segment and leaf explants of Litchi chinensis Sonn. cv. Purbi. Two surface sterilizing agents viz. Duodenase is a 29-kDa serine endopeptidase that displays selective trypsin- and chymotrypsin-like substrate specificity. This enzyme has been localized to epitheliocytes of Brunner’s glands, and as described here, to mast cells within the intestinal mucosa and lungworm-infected lung, implying an important additional role in inflammation and tissue remodelling. In primary cultures of pulmonary artery fibroblasts, duodenase induced a concentration-dependent increase in [3H]thymidine incorporation with a maximal effect observed at 30 nM.

Matrilysin (matrix metalloproteinase-7) plays important roles in tumor progression. It was previously found that matrilysin binds to the surface of colon cancer cells to promote their metastatic potential. In this study, we identified annexin II as a novel membrane-bound substrate of matrilysin. Treatment of human colon cancer cell lines with active matrilysin released a 35 kDa annexin II form, which lacked its N-terminal region, into the culture supernatant. This work investigated the kinetics of catabolism and the catabolic fate of the newly synthesized 35 S-labelled proteo-glycans present in explant cultures of tendon.
