Considering limited opioid use disorder (OUD) providers in this region, collaborative efforts between non-healthcare professionals is critical in mitigating overdose mortality.

Pathology informatics is a relatively new field with limited structured training programs for pathologists, especially for computer programming. Here, we describe our efforts to develop and implement a training program in the department of pathology at the University of Florida to meet these additional needs of current students as well as faculty and staff. Three one-credit courses were created using a flipped classroom design.

AusAID has a substantial, broad health portfolio including programs in MCH, HIV/AIDS, pandemic influenza and health systems strengthening, which focuses on financing and human resources. AusAID and USAID work particularly closely and collaboratively to ensure effective coordination and complementarity of efforts. JICA has a broad health portfolio that complements the GHI, including programs in MCH, pandemic influenza, TB, rational drug use and vaccine production.

Regarding implementation, the organization is purposeful in its communications practices, but they still tend to be concentrated in the efforts of one or two individuals rather than integrated as an important function throughout the organization. Outreach is slightly more routine, with established and written policies regarding outreach to, and collaboration with, target audiences. In terms of support and integration, the Executive Director recognizes and supports the communications function and has even received some training on it.

The WKCCPP was based on collaboration among partners who brought complementary skills and resources to the project. The MOH provided the essential clinical infrastructure of health facilities, care providers, and district management. Local health management teams allocated necessary funds for supplies. MYWO focused its efforts on developing links with the community through a network of MYWO community health workers (CHWs) who did both group and individual outreach. KECANSA assisted primarily by providing oncology expertise for training and materials development.

The Lower Rio Grande Valley Hispanic Outreach Project was a collaboration with the University of Texas at San Antonio Health Sciences Center to conduct a needs assessment and various health information outreach projects with Hispanic-serving community, health, and educational institutions. This was the beginning of an intensified NLM effort to meet the health information needs of the Hispanic population in Texas and elsewhere.
