Treated with spinosad

The present experiment was conducted on 120 male broiler chicks which were divided into six groups of 20 each. Group 1 served as control, group 2 treated with imidacloprid @ 50 ppm in feed, group 3 was treated with spinosad @ 1000 ppm in feed, group 4 was treated with imidacloprid @ 50 ppm and spinosad @ 1000 ppm in feed, group 5 was treated with imidacloprid @ 50 ppm, spinosad @ 1000 ppm and Vitamin E @ 20 ppm in feed and group 6 was treated with imidacloprid @ 50 ppm, spinosad @ 1000 ppm and silymarin @ 1000 ppm in feed. The experiment was carried out for 4 weeks.

The data on economics of different insecticidal applications against diamondback moth (Plutella xylostella L) at different intervals revealed that, the maximum yield of cabbage heads was registered in the plots treated with Spinosad 45 Sc (195.67q/ ha), which was found at par with indoxacarb 14.5 Sc (192.23q/ ha), the latter treatment was also nonsignificant with flubendiamide 39.35 Sc (184.47q/ ha).

A study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of some newer insecticidal molecules viz., Emamectin benzoate (Proclaim 5 SG) @ 2 ppm, Spinosad (Tracer 45 SC) @ 2 ppm, Indoxacarb (Avaunt 14.5 SC) @ 2 ppm, Rynaxypyr (Coragen 20 SC) @ 2ppm, Chlorfenapyr (Intrepid 10 EC) @ 2 ppm, Profenofos (Curacron 50 EC) @ 2 ppm, Novaluron (Rimon 10 EC) @ 5 ppm, Deltamethrin 2. 8 EC @ 1 ppm along with untreated control against rice weevil and to assess the storability of treated seed. All the nine treatments were replicated thrice and statistically analyzed by using completely randomized design.

Shoot and fruit borer (Leucinodes orbonalis G.) is one of the most destructive pests in brinjal in South Asia. Studies on effectiveness of different chemical insecticides against shoot and fruit borer causes 20 – 60% yield reduction was evaluated under field condition at Agricultural College and Research Institute, Killikulam, Thoothakudi during kharif from July 2018 to October 2018. Shoot and fruit infestation were minimum in Spinosad 45 SC treated plots with the per cent of 9.94 in shoots and 11.71 in fruits when compared to the untreated check (30.99%).
