In the present study, flour from tabouchi or Xanthosoma sagitifolium tuber was analyzed for biochemical composition, physico-chemical, gelatinization and pasting property. It appears that the tuber is nutritious and the results showed that tabouchi is essentially a carbohydrate food (83% dry weight (dw)).

Forty two diverse genotypes of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) were evaluated for various quantitative and qualitative traits to determine the association of yield and its components. Correlation analysis revealed that the magnitude of genotypic correlation coefficient was higher as compared to their corresponding phenotypic correlation coefficient for most of the characters.

The experiment was conducted at the Research farm, Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidhyalaya, Jabalpur (MP) during Kharif 2009 and 2011 with a view to study “Effect of different intercropping system on growth and yield of ashwagandha [Withania somnifera (L.)] in Kymore Plateau of Madhya Pradesh”. Showed that the plant height did not differ between different treatments at early stage (30 DAS) but at maturity stage, it attained significantly taller plants when intercropped with red gram during both years.

The 33 diverse genotypes were evaluated for mean performance, genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance for yield and yield contributing characters namely plant height, number of leaves plant-1 , length of the petiole, internodal length, number of tubers plant-1 , individual tuber weight, dry matter content of the tubers, tuber length, tuber girth, tuber length diameter ratio, harvest index, leaf area, starch, HCN content, tuber yield plant-1 . Analysis of variance revealed the presence of significant differences among the genotypes for all the characters.

A better understanding of the responses of Jerusalem artichoke genotypes to drought can lead to the improvement of inulin content and inulin yield in Jerusalem artichoke and its production planning.
