Tyrosinase inhibition
-
The present study investigated the phytochemical and biological properties of the rhizomes C. aromatica. From the CHCl3 extract of C. aromatic rhizomes, six known compounds, including (-)-hannokinol, (3R,5R)-3,5-diacetoxy-1,7-bis(4- hydroxyphenyl)heptane, naringenin, 2-(4- (hydroxymethyl)phenyl)propan-2-ol, 5-hydroxymethylfurfural, and bisacurone, were isolated. All compounds were tested on the biological inhibitory activities against tyrosinase, αglucosidase, and urease. It was the first time all compounds were isolated from rhizomes of C. aromatica Salisb.

As marine seaweeds are a great source of natural products, investigating biological properties for appropriate management and exploitation is a priority. For our study, we collected and extracted indigenous algal samples from marine areas of Nha Trang bay belonging to nine species of Chlorophyta, Rhodophyta, and Ochophyta to investigate their cosmeceutical activities.

A series of chiral thioureas (1 - 17) were synthesized from and tested for their anticholinesterase, tyrosinase, and urease enzyme inhibitor activities. Various phenylisothiocyanates were added to solution of ˪-cysteine in methanol: water (1 : 1 v / v) at room temperature and stirred for 24 h. The precipitated solid was recrystallized from n-butanol. Pure compounds were characterized by NMR (1 H and 13C), FTIR, and CHNS.

Synthesis of some new isoxazole compounds and their biological tyrosinase and antioxidant activities
In this study, 7 new isoxazole compounds (8-14) were synthesized from the cyclization of chalcone compounds (1-7) containing different functional groups with hydroxylamine hydrochloride in alkaline medium. Tyrosinase and antioxidant properties of 8-14 were investigated. IC50 values for the tyrosinase enzyme inhibition of compounds 8, 11, 12, and 13 were varied between 61.47 ± 3.46 and 188.52 ± 5.85, while compounds 9, 10 and 14 did not show any inhibition effect.

In this study, hydroxy benzoin (1-7), benzil (8-14), and benzoin/benzil-O-β-D-glucosides (15-25) were synthesized to investigate their biological activities. An efficient method for synthesizing hydroxy benzoin compounds (1-7) was prepared from four different benzaldehydes using an ultrasonic bath. Then, antioxidant (FRAP, CUPRAC, and DPPH), antimicrobial (3 Gram (-), 4/6 Gram (+), one tuberculosis and one fungus), and enzyme inhibition (acetylcholinesterase, butyrylcholine esterase, tyrosinase, α-amylase, and α- glucosidase) for the all synthesized compounds (1-25) were evaluated.

Tyrosinase plays an important role in the formation of melanin. Thus, the process of melanin formation can be reduced through the inhibition of tyrosinase. The objective of this study is to investigate the tyrosinase inhibitory activity of different red seaweeds harvested in the coast of Khanh Hoa Province.

Plants have been used as an important source of indispensable bioactive compounds in various cosmetics, foods, and medicines. However, the subsequent functional annotation of these compounds seems arduous because of the largely uncharacterized, vast metabolic repertoire of plant species with known biological phenotypes.

Melanin is a normal production protecting skin from environment-causing damage. Plants produce some agents in response to their environment. These agents could be applied in cosmetic production. Some Chinese herbals have immunomodulatory activities and modulate the symptoms of several diseases.

Amino-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)methyl phosphonic acid, the phosphonic analogof 3,4-dihydroxyphenylglycine, hadbeen previously reported as a potent inhibitor of tyrosinase. The mechanism of the apparent enzyme inhibition by this com-pound has now been established. Amino-(3,4-dihydroxy-phenyl)methyl phosphonic acid turned out to be a substrate and was oxidized too-quinone, which evolved to a final product identified as 3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde, the same as for 3,4-dihydroxyphenylglycine.
