PCA revealed overall acceptability, taste and colour as the top three sensory components contributing to variation in the gari samples. Root size negatively correlated with dry matter, starch content and gari yield. It was concluded that the various cassava varieties exhibited some distinct morpholgical and chemical characteristics which influenced their potentials for gari production.

The pod yield was significantly and positively correlated with pod weight, pod girth, pericarp thickness, seed weight per pod, number of pods per plant and weight of 100 seeds. The path coefficient analysis using the phenotypic correlation coefficient among the pair of characters showed that number of pods per plant had the highest positive direct effect on yield. At last it could be concluded that PSM-3 and PSM5 are best performing varieties for this region according to green pod yield.

Field trials were conducted to study the effect of physical and chemical mutagens (Gamma rays, Ethyl Methane Sulphonate (EMS) and Diethyl sulphate (DES)) on biometric characters viz., days to 50% flowering, plant height, number of branches, fruits per plant, fruit length, fruit girth, fruit weight and fruit yield per plant and their correlations in five brinjal cultivars viz., Angoor, Annamalai, Hissar pragath, PLR 1 and Putheri. The results revealed that there had been strong association between number of fruits per plant and fruit weight with fruit yield per plant in M2 generation.

Hayman diallel analysis was performed excluding reciprocal in Indian mustard, the experimental material consisted of morphological diverse but genetically homozygous genotypes/varieties and their 45 direct crosses i.e., the F1 populations. The traits days to flowering, days to maturity, plant height, number of siliquae per plant, 1000-seed weight, harvest index, and linolenic acid explored additive type of gene effects.

Very few studies are interested to the volatile compounds of pomegranate and evoking their potentials, especially, their antibacterial activity. In the present study, edible (arils) and non-edible (peels) parts of five pomegranate varieties (Tounsi, Kalai, Zahri, Chelfi and Garci) were compared for their phenolic contents, antioxidant activity, aroma profile and antibacterial propriety of their volatile compounds. Results showed that peel of the five varieties contained higher content in phenolics, flavonoids, tannins, anthocyanins and carotenoids additionally to higher antioxidant power.

Yield is a complex character controlled by a large number of contributing characters and their interactions. For any effective selection programme, it would be desirable to consider the relative magnitude of association of various characters with yield. The path coefficient technique helps in estimating direct and indirect contribution of various components in building up the total correlation towards yield. The present study was conducted with 10 lines and bottle gourd genotypes including one check variety i.e.

Cotton (Gossypium spp.) is one of the important commercial crops grown for its natural fibre, which has its own place among many other natural and synthetic fibres. Among the commercial crops grown in India, cotton occupies a pride place of being the prime supplier of raw material (85%) for textile industry, which is one of the leading industries in the country. In India, cotton provides means of livelihood for about 60 million people through its cultivation, trade and industrial use. Exploitation of heterosis has lead to improvement in productivity of different crops including cotton.

The research study was conducted on impact of training programme on knowledge, perception and attitude of stakeholders towards Bhoochetana programme. The Raichur, Koppal and Bellary districts were purposively selected based on their maximum area under groundnut cultivation. The random sampling procedure is being used to identify 180 beneficiaries. The ex-post –facto research design used for the study. It was observed that 45.56 per cent of the beneficiaries belonged to medium knowledge category followed by low (27.78 %) and high (26.67 %) categories.

The two year experiments were conducted under field and in the laboratory with fifteen cotton cultivars as treatments replicated thrice. Observation on major sucking pest viz., aphid, leafhopper, whitefly and thrips were recorded on five plants and biochemical constituent viz., crude protein, total phenols and total soluble sugar were estimated from the leaves of cotton cultivars collected at 45 and 60 days after emergence. The biochemical were estimated by standard methods and correlated with sucking pests.

The experiment on twenty three genotypes including three check varieties (GA 2, BGA 2 and RMA 7) of amaranthus (Amaranthus paniculatus L.) was conducted to work out the genetic variability, heritability, genetic advance, correlation, path coefficient and genetic divergence effects of their various attributes on seed yield. The analysis of variance revealed that mean squares due to treatments were highly significant for all characters except seed volume weight (g/10ml).

Cultivated species of jute (Corchorus olitorius L. and Corchorus capsularis L.) are distinct in their growth and characteristics related to dry matter and fibre yield. The present study was planned to evaluate 77 varieties of jute including two checks, each of C. capsularis and C. olitorius. Characterizations of genotypes of both the species were also carried out on the basis of five marketable traits with their correlation and cluster analysis of them to study the diversity pattern, based on these characters.
