Based on the OECD’s approach (2017), this study establishes criteria to assess the current situation of green growth in the agricultural sector - one of the sectors that play a crucial role in national green growth. Data collected from the General Statistics Office and World Bank are used to evaluate the level of “greening” in Vietnam’s agricultural green growth during the period 2011-2022.

This study examines the impact of formal credit access on household income in rural Vietnam. The study applies propensity score matching (PSM) method to Vietnam Household Living Standard Survey (VHLSS) 2020 dataset to estimate the impact of credit access on income per capita and income from agriculture of rural households. The study has specific contributions when considering forms of credit in rural Vietnam through formal, semi-formal, and informal credit sectors.

The swine farming has a significant potential for biogas emissions and is a substantial contributor to greenhouse gas emissions within Vietnam's agricultural sector. This study was conducted to determine the total amount of CH4, and CO2 (eq) released from mature management activities and emission coefficients of CH4 and CO2 (eq) at different swine farms in Northern, Central and Southern regions, using tier 1 and tier 2 according to IPCC method.

Recently, the credit supply from the formal credit sector to the rural area has increased considerably. However, the credit supply to agriculture is still far from the actual credit need and mismatching with the economic and social contribution of agriculture sector to the rural area. Using data from the household survey in Hai Duong, finding of this paper shows that the credit supply from the formal sector did not meet the credit need of animal production households.

The Government of Vietnam’s (GoV) Socio-Economic Plan outlines the government’s expectations for agriculture and rural development. The Agriculture Sector GDP in 2009 was 220 trillion VND, approximately 18% of total GDP. Agriculture's share of GDP has steadily declined GoV and while the GDP increased by 5.3% during 2009, the agriculture GDP increased by only 1.8%. Never-the-less government expects GDP growth in the agriculture sector to increase annually by 3 – 5 %.

Research intensity1 in Vietnam is less than 0.2% which is lower that most developing countries of 0.5% and much lower than developed country average of 1.5%. GoV has targeted a 12% increase of central government funding levels from 2006 – 2011 and to date total funding increases in agricultural research funding have exceeded that level. The aim of the proposed activity is to enhance Viet Nam’s capacity for teaching and research and development in the citrus sub-sector of agriculture. This will be achieved by the publication of reference texts and the development of high quality curricula for farmer field schools (FFS) in citrus IPM. The culture of striped catfish, Pangasianodon hypophthalmus (Sauvage), or “ca tra” in Vietnamese in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam, can be considered as a unique aquatic farming system in many ways. Production is the fastest growth recorded in any aquaculture sector, ever, based on a single species, superseding the production per unit for any form of primary production. Stripped catfish aquaculture now need to be improved in many aspects and environmental issues need to be paid more attention to ensure the sustainable development.

The study provides a comprehensive picture of the animal feed sector in Vietnam (both supply and demand side) upon data collected from 2 main surveys: feed mill survey investigating the supply side and producer survey investigating the demand side. The results show that, on the supply side, SMEs appear to have less competitiveness than large ones. That is reflected in some aspects such as higher production costs per kg output, using more labor, limited quality control, limited access to capital and land, and many small enterprises have losses.
