The study highlights the importance of beliefs in EFL teaching and learning and provides meaningful contributions to undergraduate preservice teachers, teachers and teacher educators to enhance the quality of teaching EFL to young learners in Vietnam in particular, and in other EFL contexts in general.

This study aimed to determine the effects of self-questioning on pre-intermediate EFL students’ reading comprehension and explore their perceptions of learning to read with self-questioning. A quasi-experimental design was carried out among two groups of sixty-eight Vietnamese pre-intermediate students over a nine-week reading course using self-questioning and teacher-posed questions.

The experience of English teaching, especially speaking class, comes from the actual classroom and that is not a good news for a new teacher, who does not have it but urgently needs to acquire the basic knowledge. This writing provides the reasons why the level of interesting acts as a crucial point in the succeeding of a class. In this study, an analytical chemistry practice was established and validated via the quantification of ibuprofen in drugs using the UHPLC-PDA/MS analysis for undergraduate students. These findings demonstrate that the analytical procedure is a promising and effective method for establishing the analytical chemistry practice to meet the general education curriculum 2018 in Vietnam and serve as a valuable reference for students and teachers.

Universities worldwide have been rapidly utilising English-medium instruction (EMI) in the age of globalisation and internationalisation for its various benefits. Different aspects of EMI implementation have been studied, yet linguistic features of EMI lectures are still under consideration, especially in the context of Vietnam. Against this backdrop, the current study examined metadiscursive devices in EMI lectures conducted by a non-native English-speaking lecturer at Duy Tan University, a notable private university in central Vietnam, using the taxonomy developed by Dafouz & Perucha (2010).

The findings of this research indicate that students use a wide variety of strategies in their reading of English texts after receiving the intervention. Accordingly, reading strategy instruction should be taken into greater consideration by both EFL teachers and students so as to purposely activate and strengthen these strategic reading tools for students’ life-long learning.
