The present study was thus aimed to determine the relative longevities of five barley varieties by subjecting them to a modified CD test allowing longer period of incubation at 45ºC (48 and 96 hours) as well as raising the moisture content to 20% and also determine some of the physiological changes occurring in the deteriorated seeds which can serve as indices of seed quality.

An experiment was conducted to assess the storability of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) seed lots based on vigour tests during 2015-16. Nineteen seed lots with varying vigour levels based on different germination percentages were taken and replicated four times. The results indicated that seeds with higher vigour were able to retain the vigour for longer period (at the end of storage period of six months). The vigorous lots recorded higher quality parameters at the end of storage period.

Seed ageing is influenced by two factors moisture and temperature. The deterioration of the stored seed is a natural phenomenon and the seeds tend to lose viability even under ideal storage conditions. The present study was carried out in the Department of Seed Science and Technology Section, CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, India. This study aimed at evaluating efficiency of different pickings of cotton seed vigor potential during storage.

The present investigation was carried out under insect proof net house and open field during Kharif season of 2013 and 2014for Cucumber (Pant sankar khira-1) hybrid seed production. Seed length was significantly higher under insect proof net hose (11.32) comparison to open field condition (10.36).

This study was under taken to examine the standardizing the suitable protocol for turf growing grass farm grown in temperate and subtropical climate. Two turf grasses Buffalo grass and Bermuda grass were grown with each comprising of treatments replicated thrice. Source of nitrogen was urea (46%) which was applied at 50, 100, 150 and 200 g N/m2 /month. Nitrogen application improved different growth and biomass indices of turf grasses vigorously with 30 g N/m2/month application presenting superior results as compared to rest of the treatments for almost all parameters of study.

Cytoplasmic-genic male sterile based F1 hybrid is a revolutionary approach to break yield stagnation in pigeonpea. Hybrid vigor is positively correlated to genetic distance and allelic divergence of the parents. This study estimated genetic divergence of 8 ‘A’ lines, 2 ‘B’ lines and 19 ‘R’ lines of A2 and A4 cytoplasmic sources, and predicted best parental combinations using molecular markers. Among 390 EST-SSR markers screened, only 60 markers found polymorphic indicating very low degree of polymorphism (15.4%). Average allelic count was 2.26 with a range of 2-4 per loci. Mean PIC was 0.

The results of the laboratory experiments indicated that the effect of the studied treatments on the final germination percentage was significant. The seedling vigor index of dill was restricted when the Fe and B concentrations increased beyond 1.5% and 1%, respectively.
