This study conducted a literature review about the necessity to apply some effective strategies to improve learners‟ English vocabulary instruction. The results indicated that it is advisable for teachers to use different vocabulary teaching techniques i.e. explicit, implicit and independent vocabulary teaching. Based on three approaches, some pedagogical implications for vocabulary development are put forward as resourceful references for teachers of English to exploit effective vocabulary teaching opportunities through different vocabulary teaching strategies.

This paper presents some major findings of a recent study on the application of Quizlet in teaching English. One of the two objectives of this study is to see how autonomous learners are in learning vocabulary. 60 sophomore students from Thai Nguyen University of Economics and Business Administration took part in a 10-week experiment. In the first five weeks, the students were taught without Quizlet implementation, while in the five weeks of the second phase, Quizlet was relied on to facilitate vocabulary learning.

Because the average students are the prevailing part of the student population, it is important but difficult for the educators to help average students by improving their learning efficiency and learning outcome in school tests. We conducted a quasi-experiment with two English classes taught by one teacher in the second term of the first year of a junior high school. The experimental class was composed of average students (N=37), while the control class comprised talented students (N=34). Therefore the two classes performed differently in English subject with mean difference of 13.

The field of special needs education in case of speech and language deficiencies has seen great success, utilizing a number of paper-based systems, to help young children experiencing difficulty in language acquisition and the understanding of languages. These systems employ card and paper-based illustrations, which are combined to create scenarios for children in order to expose them to new vocabulary in context. While this success has encouraged the use of such systems for a long time, problems have been identified that need addressing.
