This study assessed the effect of different proportions of alkyl/ carboxyl group ratio and alkyl side chain length on cold flow improvement on wax crystallization and biodiesel flow ability by pour point testing and dynamic viscosity measurements. Moreover, the palm oil biodiesel (PB), the waste oil biodiesel (WB), and the animal fat biodiesel (AFB) were used to test the pour point reducing ability of the synthesized CFIs.

The results of microbiological and toxicological tests have proved the safety of the bone-muscular cod waste (BMW). Waste (humerus with meat cuts) from cod cutting on fillets contains 18,95 % of a full-grade animal protein and insignificant amount of fat (0.15 %).

Various immobilization techniques are described in detail as well as the advantages of whole cell catalysts compared to extracellular lipases. Lipases are affected by a number of factors such as solvents, water content, oil to fat molar ratio and temperature. Lastly, the economic aspect of using lipases is discussed in relation to its technical feasibility on an industrial scale.

Waste animal fat is a promising feedstock to replace vegetable oil that widely used in commercial biodiesel process, however the high content of free fatty acid in waste fat makes it unfeasible to be processed with commercial base-catalytic process.

Biofuels are renewable fuels are made from biomass materials, produced through biological processes such as anaerobic digestion or agriculture, rather than the fuels produced through geological processes such as coal and petroleum. Biofuels primarily include ethanol and biodiesel and have numerous advantages such as lower carbon emissions over fossil fuels. Ethanol and biodiesel are usually blended with petroleum fuels (gasoline and diesel fuel), but they can also be used on their own.

The major organic loading originates from human excreta, and is a complex mixture of fats, proteins, carbohydrates, lignin amino acids, sugars, celluloses, humic material and fatty acids. A large proportion of this organic material is in the form of both live and dead microorganisms which provide a large surface area (0.8-1.7 m2 g-1 ) for sorption of hydrophobic organic residues and it is within this fraction that most synthetic organic compounds are located (ROGERS 1996).

The phenomenon of friction has been part of daily life since the beginning of human existence. It is no surprise that some of the earliest human activities involved the reduction of friction when it was wasteful, or the use of friction when it could be beneficial. The first category includes the use of vegetable oils and animal fats as lubricants, as well as the use of rolling motion to take advantage of the resulting low resistance to movement.
