In this study, the sol-gel method was used for the synthesis of hydrogels based on liquid glass and sodium lignosulfonate. Isopropyl alcohol was used to subsitute water in the hydrogel structure, preventing linear shrinkage and maintaining the water content in the range of 1-4.8%.

A new nanocomposite superhydrophobic of the RTV (room temperature vulcanized) silicon rubber reinforced with a different percentage of nanosilica was prepared by a two-stage sol-gel route to obtain a superhydrophobic surface coating on high voltage glass insulator, preventing the dust-water droplet from adhering to its surface. The cold spraying technique was utilized to build up a thin nanocomposite superhydrophobic layer on the glass insulator containing different percentages of the nanosilica particles, such as 23 wt %, 33 wt %, and 44 wt % with RTV silicon substrate.

Detection of bacteria using antimicrobial polymer derived via ring-opening metathesis (romp) pathway
There is growing interest in the detection of bacteria in consumables, for example, in the food and water sectors. In this study, the aim was to produce a polymer-based bacteria biosensor via ROMP (ring opening metathesis polymerization). In the first part of the study, block and random copolymers were synthesized, and their biocidal activities were tested on the glass surface. Interdigitated electrode arrays coated with the polymers possessing the highest activity were used to screen the affinity towards different bacterial strains by monitoring impedance variations in real-time.

Dimensional analysis modelling for Ra is carried out to predict the model equation for Ra by Buckingham’s π –method. In this paper, we report a numerical study of the supercoin (SC) generation in solid-core photonic crystal fibers infiltrated with water-ethanol mixtures. A photonic crystal fiber is constructed as borosilicate glass NC21, which consists of 7 rings of air holes infiltrated with water-ethanol mixtures. We report induction of spontaneous spawning in Mystus cavasius in glass aquaria provided with water hyacinth for egg attachment. The brooders (20 to 25g) were injected intramuscularly with Ovatide™ at the rate of 0.2 millilitre/Kilogram body weight and introduced into the spawning tanks in the evening. Maximum spawning response was obtained when two pairs of brooders were housed in one tank.

The research on hydrophobic and superhydrophobic surface has been extensively studied by many groups around the world. The parameter determined the wetting ability of a surface is value of water contact angle. Measuring contact angle become extremely important for both academic and industrial field. In this study, we propose a simple and affordable methodology to calculate contact angle. This approach used portable microscope of Koolertron for droplet images capturing and free software of ImageJ for contact angle fitting and calculation.

The study was undertaken to compare the effect of tray and solar drying on the quality attributes of pineapple powder and its storability in different packaging materials. For the study, pineapple slices were first subjected to osmotic dehydration process using sugar syrup of 60 oBrix for 12 hours at room temperature. Powder was prepared after solar (using natural solar cabinet dryer) and tray drying (at 50, 60, 70 and 80 oC) of pineapple slices.
