The coastal belt of Odisha extends over 480 kilometers from mouth of Subarnarekha river in the north to the Chilika lake in the south. The plain occupies the outfall regions of major rivers like Mahanadi, Bramhani, Baitarani, Subarnarekha and Rusikulya. It covers one of the most fertile land in the eastern parts of the country and support the major food grain production in the state. But due to the proximity of sea, cyclonic hazard and saltwater ingress through tidal channels have restricted the availability of acceptable quality of water for irrigation as well as drinking.

Porosity, permeability and water saturation of the reservoir zone were predicted by the RF analysis, compared with those obtained by the DL analysis and validated with the core measurements. It was found that there is a significant improvement in the analysis running time and the accuracy of the RF-predicted well log answers compared to those results by DL analysis. It is therefore recommended that more applications of RF-based well log analysis be done for clastic reservoirs in Vietnam in the future.

This study performs an integrated method using thin section and well log data to determine rock fabrics and their relationship with the rock pore system in Miocene carbonate reservoirs of well RR02, southern Song Hong basin, Vietnam. By thin section analysis, mineral components and pore types of carbonate rocks were determined, creating a basis for carbonate classification and grouping samples into different petrophysical classes.

Deproteinated cheese whey was used for biomass production of probiotic strain Lactobacillus helveticus MTCC 5463 in a biofermenter. Optimization of growth parameters such as temperature, pH and time of incubation as well as nutrient supplementation of cheese whey was carried out using response surface methodology (RSM). Cheese whey supplemented with 0.95% yeast extract and 0.95% proteose peptone, inoculated with 6% (v/v) active culture of L. helveticus MTCC 5463 and fermented for 24 h at optimized temperature of 40ºC and pH 6.25 yielded 3.25 g/L dry cell biomass and 14.

This paper presents a new approach for facies classification based on cross recurrence plots from well log data. The proposed method is evaluated using real well log data collected in Cuu Long basin. The experimental results show that the approach is efficient for facies classification, especially when the data has a small number of well log curves.

The functional food development by adding probiotic bacteria is getting a lot of concern. In this study, Bifidobacterium bifidum AS 1.1886 was encapsulated in calcium-alginate 2 % w/v (C sample) or the mix of calcium-alginate 2 % (w/v) and whey protein 1 % (w/v) (CW sample) or calcium-alginate 2 % (w/v) coated by whey protein 1 % (w/v) (CcW sample) by extrusion method, and added to mayonnaise product. The pH changes, the survival rate of probiotic bacteria, and total yeast and mold count during storage, as well as the probiotic survival in simulated gastric medium, were evaluated.

This study aimed to investigate the bacterial contamination of flake and cube ice being used daily in the community. Thirty-one ice samples were collected from different areas in the city of Can Tho, Vietnam. The enumeration of total aerobic mesophilic counts, presence of coliforms and Escherichia coli (E. coli) and determination of antibiotics resistance of E. coli isolates were examined. The results indicated that total aerobic mesophilic counts ranged from 2.5 to 6.

The present study was undertaken to evaluate the effect of different levels of Kumura (Benincasa hispida) on the quality characteristics of duck meat loaves. The Kumura was incorporated at three different levels viz., 5, 7.5 and 10 percent replacing lean meat in the formulation. The products were analysed for various physicochemical and sensory attributes. pH, crude protein, ether extract, and ash content of the products showed significantly decreasing trend with increasing levels of incorporation of Kumura.

Present study was done in North-Eastern part of Uttar Pradesh (India) which is home to diverse form of macrofungal species, some of which are highly edible and generally used by local peoples as food and other medicinal purpose. Species composition and species diversity of macrofungi were examined in 7 Tehsils of Gorakhpur district. The fruiting bodies of macrofungi were collected between 2014-2016 during different seasons, but maximum occurrence of macrofungi was found in rainy season.
