  • This study was conducted to evaluate the production performance of TANUVAS Aseel in Western Zones of Tamil Nadu. 150 Day old TANUVAS Aseel chicks were obtained from TANUVAS-CPPM, Hosur and distributed to farmers in different blocks of Erode district. Body weight and Egg production parameters were recorded in farmer’s field at weekly interval upto 72 weeks of time.

  • A field experiment was conducted during kharif 2016 at R&D farm of Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd., Udumalpet with seven treatments comprising of two irrigation (100% and 150% ETc) and three fertigation levels (75%, 100% and 125% RDF) in addition, surface irrigation method as a check were arranged in randomized block design and replicated thrice. Rice was grown in sandy clay soil with pH and EC of 7.6 and 0.21 (dS m-1 ), respectively. A 115 day long variety ADT (R) 45 was used with spacing of 20x10cm. Fertilizers were applied @ 150:50:50 kg of N P2O5 K2O ha-1 .

  • The study was conducted among certified organic farmers of Tamil Nadu. A sample size of 180 organic farmers was selected from the districts of Coimbatore, Erode and Tiruppur districts of Tamil Nadu. Data was collected through personnel interview method with help of semi structured interview schedule. Simple percentage analysis and simple ranking method are used for the study.   • The study revealed that majority (68.75%) of the farmers belonged to middle age group, had medium annual income (58.75%), belong to medium social cohesiveness(81.25%), had medium mass medium access (72.50%), had medium knowledge on climate change(83.75%). Having more percentage of respondents on medium and high level of fatalism as it was found in result hinted that there is need to develop competencies of farmers on consequences of climate change through the services of agricultural extensionists.

  • Drought is a complex natural phenomenon and its impact on agriculture is enormous. The vegetation status was verified using MODIS satellite images through the Normalized Differential Vegetation Index (NDVI) for different agro-climatic zones (ACZ) over Tamil Nadu during the north-east monsoon season of 2015 (as extremely wet year), 2016 (as drought year) and 2017 (as normal year) for our analysis and it showed that satellite data was very effective for assessing the agricultural drought.
