  • In the case of length weight relationship (LWR), the coefficient of determination value (r2 ) was found 0.96 and the slope was found b = 1.50 which indicated the pattern of negative allometric growth of this species as b < 3. In contrast, an increase was recorded in the fecundity associated with the rise of total length, body weight and gonad weight showed a significant linear relationship. This study would assist in the development of induced breeding techniques and provide valuable information for the sustainable management of this population in the inland open ecosystem.

  • Ebook "Recarbonization of the biosphere: Ecosystems and the global carbon cycle" increasing amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) are added to the atmosphere by fossil fuel combustion but the biosphere is a potential C sink. Thus, a comprehensive understanding of C cycling in the biosphere is crucial for identifying and managing biospheric C sinks. Ecosystems with large C stocks which must be protected and sustainably managed are wetlands, peatlands, tropical rainforests, tropical savannas, grasslands, degraded/desertified lands, agricultural lands, and urban lands.

  • Mangroves are a diverse and rich ecosystem, in which many animals are associated, including benthos. Species composition and occurrence of these animals are driven by the mangroves and tidal conditions. To examine how the benthic animal is distributed in mangrove habitats from northern Vietnam, two surveys in 2019 were conducted in Tien Hai Wetland Nature Reserve, which resulted in a total of 89 species, belonging to 56 genera and 35 families of zoobenthos.

  • Mangrove forests are intertidal wetlands and found along tropical, subtropical, and warm-temperate coastlines. They also offer valuable ecosystem services. However, mangrove forests are especially vulnerable as typhoons frequently hit during the monsoon season and under driving human pressures.

  • Detailed surveys on rarely examined aquatic ecosystems often lead to the discovery of new species of high conservation value. This study directed towards the recognition of a variety of aquatic environments in Costa Rica (40 habitats, including lakes, wetlands, and small aquatic systems, e.g., ponds, ditches, puddles, tree holes, and bromeliads) established the presence of 105 species of Monogononta representing 33 genera. In total, 91 species and 19 genera were found to be new for Costa Rica, including 29 species recorded for the first time in Central America (e.g.

  • Eleocharis ochrostachys is considered to be a native plant in Tram Chim National Park. This study determined the effects of soil moisture and submergence conditions on the growth and tuberization of the plant. The results showed that the development of the plant was the most suitable at soil moisture of 80 -100% and submergence of 15 cm, while it poorly grew and did not produce any tuber at soil moisture of 45 - 50%.

  • Our study sets forth the outcomes of an interdisciplinary project conducted in order to fill the information gap on the management of a wetland ecosystem, in the case of a protected area on the south-eastern coast of Turkey. The hypothesis of the study is that the pattern of species composition reflects soil salinity level and some species can act as relevant indicators. The study aimed to discover a relationship between soil salinity and vegetation composition and establish some indicators useful for monitoring.

  • A field trial was conducted to study the climate change effects on quality makhana production at ICAR-RCER, Research Centre on Makhana during 2016-2017. The objectives of the study were developing new makhana production strategies to secure sustainable production under climate change or various weather conditions. High temperature and reduced humidity resulted in production of rather smaller nuts and leaves. The results revealed that makhana was a photo insensitive crop and its growth and development were markedly changed with the change of climates.

  • The Monterey Bay Region benefits from science-based adaptation planning that places value on a healthy social-ecological ecosystem. We co-developed a methodological engagement framework to support an iterative place-based process among natural resource managers, the planning community, and the community of technical experts (e.g., economists, scientists, lawyers). In collaboration with local decision makers, we are evaluating the effects of adaptation strategies on ecosystem services provided by natural dune and wetland systems to inform decision making at the local government level.
