A review of the oribatid mites of the genus Papillacarus Kunst, 1959 (Oribatida: Lohhmanniidae) in Vietnam, with remarks on the taxonomic status of P. arboriseta, is presented. The article provides also a key to nine species recorded in Vietnam, namely P. arboriseta Jeleva et Vu, 1987, P. benenensis Vu, Ermilov et Dao, 2010, P. cornutus (Sarkar et Subias, 1984), P. hirsutus (Aoki, 1961), P. indistinctus Ermilov, Anichkin et Wu, 2012, P. polygonatus Ermilov et Anichkin, 2011, P. polysetosus Ermilov, Anichkin et Wu, 2012, P. ramosus Balogh, 1961, and P. undirostratus Aoki, 1965.

Heterobasidion parviporum is an economically most important fungal forest pathogen in northern Europe, causing root and butt rot disease of Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.). The mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis and virulence of this species remain elusive. No reference genome to facilitate functional analysis is available for this species.

Ganoderma species are important wood decaying fungi distributed throughout the world. They are diverse in the tropics affecting plantation crops such as coconut, arecanut and oil palm and they also affect ornamental, forest and avenue trees in tropical and temperate areas causing Basal Stem rot/Ganoderma wilt. Basal Stem Rot (BSR), also called Ganoderma wilt in coconut and foot rot in arecanut caused by the different species of Ganoderma is one of the most devastating diseases affecting production and productivity of palms.

Twenty Five lignolytic fungi were isolated from decaying wood samples and were screened for the laccase production using guaiacol and ABTS as indicator compounds. The positive isolates were confirmed for the presence of laccase using Azure B and quantitative enzyme assay in presence of catalase using ABTS as substrate. Further laccase producing capacity of fungus was estimated in seven different media where Czapex Dox medium showed highest enzymatic activity of 17.2 U/ml.

Present study was done in North-Eastern part of Uttar Pradesh (India) which is home to diverse form of macrofungal species, some of which are highly edible and generally used by local peoples as food and other medicinal purpose. Species composition and species diversity of macrofungi were examined in 7 Tehsils of Gorakhpur district. The fruiting bodies of macrofungi were collected between 2014-2016 during different seasons, but maximum occurrence of macrofungi was found in rainy season.

Lenzitopsis oxycedri Malençon & Bertault was collected on a living branch of Juniperus foetidissima Willd. from Thermessos national park, Antalya, situated in the southern Mediterranean part of Turkey. This very rare species belongs to a monotypic genus of Thelephoraceae and was previously only known from Morocco, Spain, and Italy. This fungus causes white rot in juniper wood.

Copper remains the primary biocide component used today to protect wood. Increased interest in the use of non-arsenic copper-based wood preservatives has also led to increased studies on copper-tolerant decay fungi. Oxalic acid production by brown-rot fungi is proposed as one mechanism of copper tolerance.

Enzymes that function within plants, animals, and microorganisms are fundamental to life, and their contributions to metabolic pathways and processes have been studied extensively. For over 100 years there has been interest in what today is called ecological or environmental enzymology. This aspect of enzymology originates from the work of Woods, who, in 1899, wrote about the survival and function in soil of plant peroxidases following their release from decaying plant roots.
