The present paper provides a case study of rice farmers in the Muda granary area, which covers the states of Kedah and Perlis, using primary data to identify the factors on the adoption of PEP among farmers. The research findings indicate that the key factors determining the farmers’ adoption of the PEP are age, secondary jobs, effective communication with the extension agency, increased rice yield, lower operating cost, lower working time in the fields, and support services, such as assistance, incentives, and facilities from the government.

Salinity is one of the most devastating abiotic stresses limiting crop production. Considering this issue, a pot experiment was conducted at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, Bangladesh during the boro season (2017-2018) using two rice (Oryza sativa L.) varieties, namely BRRI dhan28 (salt sensitive) and BRRI dhan47 (salt tolerant), to assess the effects of varied salinity levels on the growth and the performance of the rice varieties under salt stress conditions.

High temperature stress at reproductive stages of cotton crop severely affects the yield and quality of cotton crop under changing climatic conditions. To alleviate the adverse effects of high temperature stress on cotton crop, the regulatory effects of potassium (K), zinc (Zn), and boron (B) were assessed by applying different temperature regimes at three reproductive stages of cotton crop under field and glass house conditions.

We derived a protein hydrolysate with rich content, which includes proteinogenic and nonproteinogenic amino acids, from chicken feathers by using an alkaline hydrolysis procedure with high yield success. After foliar application of aqueous solutions (0.05%, 0.075%, and 0.1%) of chicken feather protein hydrolysate (CFPH) to the seedlings of wheat (Triticum aestivum L. ‘Altındane’ and ‘Bezostaya’), their effects were evaluated on important physiological and biochemical parameters.

An effective procedure for the synthesis of α-hydroxyphenylacetic acid with cyclodextrin (CD) catalysts was developed. The phase-transfer catalyst types, catalyst loadings, reaction times, reaction temperatures, and substrate molar ratios were investigated to optimize the reaction conditions. In addition, the factors that affect the reaction were studied, and the relationship between benzaldehyde and β -cyclodextrin (β -CD) was analyzed through 2D-ROESY. The equilibrium constant when β -CD was used as the catalyst was calculated.

Ferrous iron (Fe) and zinc (Zn) at high concentration in the soil cause heavy metal toxicity and greatly affect rice yield and quality. To improve rice production, understanding the genetic and molecular resistance mechanisms to excess Fe and Zn in rice is essential. Genome-wide association study (GWAS) is an effective way to identify loci and favorable alleles governing Fe and Zn toxicty as well as dissect the genetic relationship between them in a genetically diverse population.

Soil salinity is one of the major abiotic stress factors that affect crop growth and yield, which seriously restricts the sustainable development of agriculture. Quinoa is considered as one of the most promising crops in the future for its high nutrition value and strong adaptability to extreme weather and soil conditions.

The grain yield of cereals is determined by the synergistic interaction between source activity and sink capacity. However, source-sink interactions are far from being fully understood. Therefore, a field experiment was performed in wheat to investigate the responses of flag leaves and grains to sink/source manipulations.

Heading time is one of the most important agronomic traits in wheat, as it largely affects both adaptation to different agro-ecological conditions and yield potential. Identification of genes underlying the regulation of wheat heading and the development of diagnostic markers could facilitate our understanding of genetic control of this process.

The study indicated that growth characters were significantly influenced by different dose and time of application of potassium. Among the growth parameters the highest pseudostem girth (67.50 cm) and the highest leaf area index (LAI) of 4.71 was recorded under T4 [200g K2O + 100g K2O/plant (2+2 splits: 75th, 165th, 255th and 300th day after planting)].

=Sugarcane (Saccharum spp.) is an important commercial crop, cultivated across the world. Smut disease is one of the major diseases of sugarcane. Severe smut infection affects the sugar recovery as well as yield loss ranging from 10 to70 %. The present study was based on the evaluation of seventy five sugarcane genotypes against smut disease by following seed sett inoculation technique under field condition to screen out the newer sources of resistance as well as susceptible for the development of the smut resistant varieties.

Maize is considered to be the third most important cereal after rice and wheat in India. It is being cultivated worldwide in a wider range of environmental conditions, because of its greater adaptability. It is known to be affected by more than 62 diseases. Among them, turcicum leaf blight caused by Exserohilum turcicum (Pass.) Leonard and Suggs is of significant importance as it drastically reduces the yield by reducing photosynthetic activity of the plant.

The use of resource management technologies such as zero tillage, which can affect the soil properties, can restore soil health that is degrading at a rapid pace due to intensive agriculture, inefficient and imbalanced use of fertilisers, high-yielding crops, the use of heavy machinery, excessive tillage, etc. The health of the soil can be measured by the capacity of microorganisms that can act as early warning signals. To improve soil quality, zero tillage is recommended globally and has significant effects on soil microbial communities.
