Two yeasts,Candida arabinofermentansPYCC 5603 T and Pichia guillier-mondiiPYCC 3012, which show rapid growth onl-arabinose and very high rates ofl-arabinose uptake on screening, were selected for characteri-zation ofl-arabinose transport and the first steps of intracellular l-arabi-nose metabolism.
