ABSTRACT
Worm gear, one of the transmitters, is widely used in engineering industries,
especially in the field of mechanical engineering because of its advantages such as
compact size, high load capacity, high productivity and reliability. During the
development stages, the worm gear has a lot of improvement with the recent
accomplishments in the using of concave worm - worm gear CAM with its
advantages, such as solid structures and high load capacity, a small gap among
elements, ability to work smoothly, less vibration, high reliability and accurate
transmission.
Because this is the new transmitter, however, its documents and theoretical
design calculations have not been publicized widely and only appeared in the form
of research information and surveys on the professional journals. That is why the
theme entitled "Researching and building the design process and manufacturing
technology for a new-type worm gear (Roller CAM)" has been developed with the
main content as following:
- Integrating system and presenting the design-calculation methods of the
traditional worm gear.
- Researching on the theoretical basis of the new-type worm gear.
- Proposing the methodology to design the new-type worm gear.
- Proposing the design method of the new-type worm gear on the Creo 3.0
software.
- Proposing procedures for machining the new-type worm gear on a CNC
machine.
The study has totally completed the main contents above and a specific
application of the new-type worm gear for specific system is also calculated,
designed and presented in the thesis.
