  • The efficient synthesis of 12-substituted-3,4,4a,5,12,12a-hexahydrobenzo[b]acridine-1,6,11(2H)-triones starting from 2-amino-1,4-naphthoquinone, 1,3-cyclohexanedione, and different (hetero)aromatic aldehydes was developed. These reactions were carried out in acetic acid under microwave irradiation in the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid as catalyst. The structure of the newly synthesized compounds were confirmed employing spectroscopic data as well as elemental analysis. The plausible mechanism of these three-component domino reactions was also described.

  • The present study investigated the phytochemical and biological properties of the rhizomes C. aromatica. From the CHCl3 extract of C. aromatic rhizomes, six known compounds, including (-)-hannokinol, (3R,5R)-3,5-diacetoxy-1,7-bis(4- hydroxyphenyl)heptane, naringenin, 2-(4- (hydroxymethyl)phenyl)propan-2-ol, 5-hydroxymethylfurfural, and bisacurone, were isolated. All compounds were tested on the biological inhibitory activities against tyrosinase, αglucosidase, and urease. It was the first time all compounds were isolated from rhizomes of C. aromatica Salisb.

  • Twelve volatile constituents were identified from Liverwort Porella densifolia (Hepaticae) collected at Ham Rong Mountain, Sapa, Lao Cai Province by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). The volatile constituents including some monoterpenes (β-myrcene, α- pinene and camphene); two major sesquiterpenes, deoxopinguisone and bicyclogermacrene-2 were identified.

  • 4-Amino-3-(2-methoxy-4-propylphenoxymethylen)-(1H)-1,2,4-triazole-5-thione was prepared from eugenol in Ocimum Sanetum L. essential oil. A series of 7 imines were synthesized from these key compounds by condensing it with different aromatic aldehydes. The structures of these imines were confirmed by EI MS, IR and NMR spectroscopy, in many cases 2D NMR spectra are also used.
