The small punch test with an application of a relatively small specimen has recently become a reliable material mechanics testing method. In this study, the small punch test is set up based on the conventional mechanical testing machine for SUS304 stainless steel to evaluate the mechanical properties of SUS304 steel at different displacement rates of the punch in quasi-static loading condition in the case of with and without heat treatment.

Influence of the austenitic stainless steel microstructure on the void swelling under ion irradiation
To understand the role of different metallurgical parameters on the void formation mechanisms, various austenitic stainless steels were elaborated and irradiated with heavy ions. Two alloys, in several metallurgical conditions (15Cr/15Ni–Ti and 15Cr/25Ni–Ti), were irradiated in the JANNUS-Saclay facility at 600 °C with 2 MeV Fe2+ ions up to 150 dpa.

This work investigated and predicted the fatigue life durability of Austenitic Stainless Steel 316L at room temperature due to its importance in plant industries worldwide. Modelling and simulations were performed to clarify the fracture as well as stress distribution using integrated mechanism.

The austenite and ferrite phases of the 0.5%Gd-0.8%B-stainless steels are about 88:12. The average austenite and ferrite grain size of the plane normal to rolling, transverse and normal directions of the hot rolled specimens are about 5.08, 8.94, 19.35, 23.29, 26.00 and 18.11 [mm], respectively. The average micro-hardness of the as-cast specimen is 200.4 Hv, whereas, that of the hot-rolled specimen are 220.1, 204.7 and 203.5 [Hv] for the plane normal to RD, TD and ND, respectively.
