  • Light absorption of the most plants is in range of blue (440 nm), deep-red (660 nm) and far-red around 700-740 nm. The deep-red and far-red light play important roles in reactions of photomorphogenesis of plants. Although red emission phosphors have been researched extensively for white light-emitting diodes, deep-red and far-red emission phosphors for plant growth have been reported inadequately. Thus, in this work, far-red emitting CaYAlO4:Mn4+ phosphor was synthesized by co-precipitation method coupled with various annealing temperature from 800 oC to 1300 oC for 5 h.

  • The synthesis of graphene (Gr) - gold (Au) nanoparticle (NP) composite was achieved using continuous ultraviolet wave exposure. The functional groups were investigated with FTIR spectra. From the Raman spectra, D-band and G-band of Gr were identified. As a result, the uniform deposition of nanometer-sized Au NPs on the Gr sheets was observed from the field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) images. The photodegradation of methylene blue in aqueous solutions was studied using various photocatalysts, including neat TiO2, Gr/TiO2 and Gr-Au/TiO2 composites.

  • In this research, graphene aerogel (GA) was fabricated by chemical reduction method, in which ethylenediamine (EDA) was used as a reducing and functionalising agent. The characterisation of GA was studied by density, field-emission scanning electron microscope, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) specific surface area, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The results of the analysis showed that GA exhibits low density, ranging from 4-8 mg/cm3 , high porosity, and BET specific surface area changes from 176 to 1845 m2 /g.

  • By doping of Cu2+ ion, the absorption wavelength is shifted towards the lower wavelength being an evidence for an increasing band gap. The emission spectrum of pure ZnS has a green emission band centred at around 520 nm. By doping Cu2+ ion, the peak of the green band in the luminescence spectra were transferred to 516 nm and appeared a strong blue peak at 440 nm. The reasons of these will be discussed in this paper.

  • An investigation of the morphology, structure, composition and optical properties of ZnS:Mn2+ microbelts grown by the thermal evaporation method using ZnS powder and MnCl2.4H2O powder as precursor materials is presented. The SEM images of the products show that ZnS:Mn2+ microbelts are bigger and shorter than ZnS microbelts. EDS reveals that the composition of the microbelts include Zn, S, O, Mn and Cl elements.

  • In the experiments, the chlorophyll fluorescence was measured under steady-state conditions, in 20 min predarkened intact leaves, and we have employed as the excitation source, a blue LED at 405 nm with 10 nm of bandwidth and delivering a maximum power of 2.2 mW. The choice relies upon the fact that its wavelength resides within the main absorption band of Chl a, producing much higher fluorescence emission intensity.
