Bootstrap method

In this book you will find the basics of probability theory and statistics. In addition, there are several topics that go somewhat beyond the basics but that ought to be present in an introductory course: simulation, the Poisson process, the law of large numbers, and the central limit theorem. Computers have brought many changes in statistics. In particular, the bootstrap has earned its place. It provides the possibility to derive confidence intervals and perform tests of hypotheses where traditional (normal approximation or large sample) methods are inappropriate.

An attempt has been made to determine the phylogenetic relationship to trace out the evolutionary pattern of the test sequence of Xiphinema pachydermum partial 28S rRNA gene and to find out relationship of the same with other selected sequences of NCBI by constructing phylogenetic trees. Nucleotide sequence of 28S ribosomal RNA gene of Xiphinema pachydermum from Solan, Himachal Pradesh (AM779749.1) showed maximum homology of 93% with Xiphinema inaequale isolate HP 28S large subunit ribosomal RNA gene, partial sequence (HM163210.1) from Baijnath, Himachal Pradesh.

This study attempts to quantify the shocks to a banking network and analyze the transfer of shocks through the network. We consider two sources of shocks: external shocks due to market and macroeconomic factors which impact the entire banking system, and idiosyncratic shocks due to failure of a single bank. The external shocks we considered in this study are due to exchange rate shocks. An ARMA/GARCH model is used to extract i.i.d. residuals for this purpose.

Reserve risk represents a fundamental component of underwriting risk for non-life insurers and its evaluation can be achieved through a wide range of stochastic approaches, including the Collective Risk Model. This paper, in order to fill a gap in existing literature, proposes a Bayesian technique aimed at evaluating the standard deviation of structure variables embedded into the Collective Risk Model. We adopt uninformative prior distributions and the observations of the statistical model are obtained making use of Mack’s formula linked to bootstrap methodology.
