Twenty-four branched maltodextrins were synthesized from eight starches using three thermostable microbial glycogen branching enzymes. The maltodextrins have a degree of branching (DB) ranging from 5 % to 13 %. This range of products allows us to explore the effect of DB on the digestibility, which was quantified under conditions that mimic the digestion process in the small intestine.

A set of mutant pea lines carrying induced mutations within the major seed-expressed starch-branching enzyme gene has been characterised at the molecular, chemical and agronomic levels. Eight of the induced mutations, three of which predicted a premature stop codon, were compared with the naturally occurring starch-branching enzyme mutation within the same genetic background.

Several AA-metabolizing enzymes that are higher in GBM, are also linked to poor outcome (such as BCAT1), which makes them potential targets for therapeutic inhibition. Moreover, existing drugs that deplete asparagine and arginine may be effective against brain tumors, and should be studied in conjunction with chemotherapy.

Maple syrup urine disease (MSUD) is an autosomal recessive inherited metabolic disorder caused by malfunction of the branched-chain α-ketoacid dehydrogenase complex (BCKDH). This enzyme complex participates in the catalyzing metabolisms of the branched-chain αketoacids, the second step of the degradation of branched-chain amino acids. Impaired activities of the BCKAD complex lead to an increase of the levels of branched- chain amino acid such as leucine, valine, and isoleucine in the blood.

Starch is the most important carbohydrate in plant storage tissues. Multiple isozymes in at least four enzyme classes are involved in starch biosynthesis. Some of these isozymes are thought to interact and form complexes for efficient starch biosynthesis.

In saffron (Crocus sativus), new corms develop at the base of every shoot developed from the maternal corm, a globular underground storage stem. Since the degree of bud sprouts influences the number and size of new corms, and strigolactones (SLs) suppress growth of pre-formed axillary bud, it was considered appropriate to investigate SL involvement in physiology and molecular biology in saffron.

An experiment was designed to assess the response of Sulphur to different Chickpea cultivars at Agriculture farm of Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramodaya Vishwavidyalaya, Chitrakoot, Satna (M.P.). Three varieties (DCP 92-03, JG-16, JG-11) Seed Treatment in Chickpea with Rhizobium and three Sulphur levels (10, 20, 30 and 40 kg S /ha) along with all possible interactions were used. Experimental design fallowing split plot design in three replications was employed data was collected on yield parameters.

To study the impact of low poly tunnel and planting time on the growth parameters and yield performance of Muskmelon, an experiment were conducted in 2016-17 to 2017-18 at vegetable experimental farm, Nalanda College of Horticulture, Noorsarai, Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour (Bhagalpur). The treatments consisted of five date of sowing i.e.,5th December, 15th December, 25th December, 5th January and 15th January under open field as well as low plastic poly tunnel respectively. The farmer practice is taken as a control in open field.

The process of enzyme assisted extraction of essential oil from the leaves and branches of the Vietnamese aromatic plant Cinnamomum cassia was studied and optimized using a Box-Wilson central composite design consisting of 05 independent variables (pH, temperature T, time τ, concentration of the enzyme Laccase, and concentration of the enzyme Cellic Htec2), and two dependent variables (reducing sugar and yield of essential oil).

The use of a mixture of both enzyme systems was more effective than using them separately. Under optimal conditions, an increase in oil yield of 41.7 % was achieved, while distillation time was shortened from 8 to 5 hours. The enzyme treatments did not change the qualitative composition of the essential oils. However, significant changes in the percentages of cinnamic aldehyde (69.74 % to 85.6 %) and cinnamyl acetate (17.2 % to 1.34 %) were observed.

The in vitro activities of purified potato starch branching enzyme (SBE) I and II expressed in Escherichia coli were compared using several assay methods. With the starch– iodine method, it was found that SBE I was more active than SBE II on an amylose substrate, whereas SBE II was more active than SBE I on an amylopectin substrate. Both enzymes were stimulated by the presence of phosphate.

Acetohydroxyacid synthase (AHAS, EC 4.1.3.18) catalyses the first step in branched-chain amino acid biosynthesis and is the target for sulfonylurea and imidazolinone herbicides, which act as potent and specific inhibitors. Mutants of the enzyme have been identified that are resistant to particular herbicides. However, the selectivityof thesemutants towards various sulfonylureas and imidazolinones has not been determined systematically.

3-Methyl-branched fatty acids, as phytanic acid, undergo peroxisomala-oxidation in which they are shortened by 1 carbon atom. This process includes four steps: activation, 2-hydroxylation, thiamine pyrophosphate dependent cleavage and aldehyde dehydrogenation. The thiamine pyrophosphate dependence of the third step is unique in peroxisomal mammalian enzymology. Human pathology due to a deficient alpha-oxidation is mostly linked to mutations in the gene coding for the second enzyme of the sequence, phytanoyl-CoA hydroxylase....
