This study aims to observe the value of the dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) technique in the assessment of primary lung cancer. Compare the difference in density of lung tumors on the true non-contrast (TNC) and virtual non-contrast (VNC) images. Investigate the iodine concentration value of lung tumors in differentiating malignant and benign lesions as well as adenocarcinoma and squamous carcinoma in lung cancer.

Treatment of clinical N0 neck tumours is controversial in early-stage oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), possibly because T1N0M0 and T2N0M0 merge together at early stages. The purposes of this study were to compare survival outcomes only for T2N0M0 cases based upon treatment elective neck dissection versus neck observation.

Previous large observational cohort studies showed higher blood pressure (BP) positively associated with cancer. We used Mendelian randomization (MR) to obtain less confounded estimates of BP on total and sitespecific cancers.

Several studies have demonstrated that the preoperative Glasgow prognostic score (GPS) and modifed GPS (mGPS) refected the prognosis in patients undergoing curative surgery for colorectal cancer. However, there are no reports on long-term prognosis prediction using high-sensitivity mGPS (HS-GPS) in colorectal cancer. Therefore, this study aimed to calculate the prognostic value of preoperative HS-GPS in patients with colon cancer.

To observe the clinicopathological and prognostic value of long non-coding RNA five prime to X inactive specific transcript (lncFTX) in multiple tumors. Methods: Eligible studies for lncFTX were identified by searching PubMed, Embase, Web of Science and Cochrane Library databases from inception to December 01, 2020. Stata 12.0 software was used to calculate the odds ratio (OR)/ hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI).

Regulators of G protein signaling (RGS) proteins modulate G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling networks by terminating signals produced by active Gα subunits. RGS17, a member of the RZ subfamily of RGS proteins, is typically only expressed in appreciable amounts in the human central nervous system, but previous works have shown that RGS17 expression is selectively upregulated in a number of malignancies, including lung, breast, prostate, and hepatocellular carcinoma.

The K103N substitution is a frequently observed HIV-1 RT mutation in patients who do not respond to combinationtherapy. The drugs Efavirenz, MSC194 and PNU142721 belong to the recent generation of NNRTIs characterized by an improved resistance profile to the most common single point mutations within HIV-1 RT, including the K103N mutation. In the present study we present structural observations from Efavirenz in complex with wild-type protein and the K103N mutant and PNU142721 and MSC194 in complex with the K103N mutant.

Visual arrestin is converted from a ÔbasalÕ state to an ÔactivatedÕ state by interaction with the phosphorylated C-terminus of photoactivated rhodopsin (R*), but the conformational changes in arrestin that lead to activation are unknown. Small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) was used to investigate the solution structure of arrestin and characterize changes attendant upon activation. Wild-type arrestin forms dimers with a dissociation constant of 60 lM.

The effect of the extracellular chaperone, clusterin, on amyloid fibril formation by lipid-free human apolipoprotein C-II (apoC-II) was investigated. Sub-stoichiometric levels of clusterin, derived from either plasma or semen, potently inhibit amyloid formation by apoC-II. Inhibition is dependent on apoC-II concentration, with more effective inhibition by clusterin observed at lower concentrations of apoC-II. The average sedimentation coefficient of apoC-II fibrils formed from apoC-II (0.3 mgÆmL)1) is reduced by coincubation with clusterin (10 lgÆmL)1). ...

School of Biosciences, University of Birmingham, Edgbaston, Birmingham, UK; 2Shifa College of Medicine, Islamabad, Pakistan.Curcumin is a compound derived from the spice, tumeric. It is a potent inhibitor of the SERCA Ca2þ pumps (all isoforms), inhibiting Ca2þ-dependent ATPase activity with IC50 values of between 7 and 15 mM . It also inhibits ATPdependent Ca2þ-uptake in a variety of microsomal membranes, although for cerebellar and platelet microsomes, a stimulation in Ca2þ uptake is observed at low curcumin concentrations (,10 mM )....

Resonance Raman spectroscopy has been used to observe changes in the iron–ligand stretching frequency in photo-product spectra of the proximal cavitymutant ofmyoglobin H93G. The measurements compare the deoxy ferrous state of the heme iron in H93G(L), where L is an exogenous imidazole ligand bound in the proximal cavity, to the pho-tolyzed intermediate of H93G(L)*CO at 8 ns.

Báo cáo Y học: Fluorescence study of the high pressure-induced denaturation of skeletal muscle actin
Ikkai&Ooi [Ikkai,T.&Ooi,T. (1966)Biochemistry5, 1551± 1560] made a thorough study of the eect of pressure on G- and F-actins. However, all of the measurements in their study were made after the release of pressure. In the present experiment in situ observations were attempted by using eATP to obtain further detailed kinetic and thermodynamic information about the behaviour of actin under pressure.

Activation of a temperature-sensitive formof p53 inmurine erythroleukaemia cells results in a rapid impairment of protein synthesis that precedes inhibitionof cell proliferation and loss of cell viability by several hours. The inhibition of translation is associated with specific cleavages of polypep-tide chain initiation factors eIF4GI and eIF4B, a pheno-menon previously observed in cells induced to undergo apoptosis in response to other stimuli.

The structures of MornigaM and the MornigaM–mannose complex have been determined at 1.8 A˚ and 2.0 A˚ resolution, respectively. Both struc-tures adopt the typical b-prism motif found in other jacalin-related lectins and their tetrameric assembly closely resembles that of jacalin. The carbo-hydrate-binding cavity of MornigaM readily binds mannose. No major structural rearrangements can be observed in MornigaM upon binding of mannose. These results allow corroboration of the structure–function rela-tionships within the small group of Moraceae lectins....

The biological ion channel gramicidin A (gA) was modified by synthetic means to obtain the tail-to-tail linked asymmetric gA-derived dimer com-pound3. Single-channel current measurements for 3in planar lipid bilayers exhibit an Eisenman I ion selectivity for alkali cations. The structural asymmetry does not lead to an observable functional asymmetry. The structure of 3in solution without and with Cs cations was investigated by 1 H-NMR spectroscopy. In CDCl3 ⁄CD3OH (1 : 1, v⁄v),3forms a mixture of double-strandedb-helices....

The structure and membrane interaction of the internal fusion peptide (IFP) fragment of the avian sarcoma and leucosis virus (ASLV) envelope glycoprotein was studied by an array of biophysical methods. The peptide was found to induce lipidmixing of vesicles more strongly than the fusion peptide derived from the N-terminal fusion peptide of influenza virus (HA2-FP). It was observed that the helical structure was enhanced in association with the model membranes, particularly in the N-terminal portion of the peptide.

The mammalian small heat shock proteinaB-crystallin can be phosphorylated at three different sites, Ser19, Ser45 and Ser59. We compared the intracellular distribution of wild-type, nonphosphorylatable and all possible pseudophos-phorylation mutants ofaB-crystallin by immunoblot and immunocytochemical analyses of stable and transiently transfected cells. We observed that pseudophosphorylation at two (especially S19D/S45D) or all three (S19D/S45D/ S59D) sites induced the partial translocationofaB-crystallin from the detergent-soluble to the detergent-insoluble frac-tion....
