The initial objective of this project was to improve Boards of Education in Indonesia, especially in terms of their selection, recruitment, performance and contribution to educational development. However, after doing preliminary study and field visits, I realized that the initial objective was far too ambitious. It quickly became evident that there was considerable confusion about District Boards of Education and a lack of basic information about how they should contribute to educational decision making.

In the process of researching, I have found four ethical issues that employees should be aware of. I wrote four case studies, based on these issues, to use as the method to train the participants. In order to determine which cases to use for the training, I pilot tested the cases with my faculty advisor and the general manager of the store.

This case study provides an in-depth and holistic understanding of issues that plague minority entrepreneurs.

The study aims at evaluating the textbook Tiếng Anh 6 (10-year program) to explore if it really meets the defined aims of the course and if it is appropriate to the students’ level of English and their background knowledge. I also hope that the findings of the thesis will partly help to decide whether to modify any contents or the structure of the book to improve the quality and the effectiveness of the material.

(BQ) This study was made only for the finish stages and has been carried out on the influence of five design factors: intensity supplied by the generator of the EDM machine (I), pulse time (ti), duty cycle (η), open-circuit voltage (U) and dielectric flushing pressure (P), over the two previously mentioned response variables. This has been done by means of the technique of design of experiments (DOE), which allows us to carry out the above-mentioned analysis performing a relatively small number of experiments.

The bacterial Lsm protein, host factor I (Hfq), is an RNA chaperone involved in many types of RNA transactions such as replication and stabil-ity, control of small RNA activity and polyadenylation. In this latter case, Hfq stimulates poly(A) synthesis and binds poly(A) tails that it protects from exonucleolytic degradation. We show here, that there is a correlation between Hfq binding to the 3¢ end of an RNA molecule and its ability to stimulate RNA elongation catalyzed by poly(A)polymerase I.

THE EFFECTS OF CUSTOMER LOYALITY ON PROFITABILLITY Chapter Three turns to a wholly different, but not unrelated, topic, the role of admissions exam scores in the identification of well-prepared students in the college admissions process. The case for using such exams is often made with “validity” studies, which estimate the correlation between test scores and eventual collegiate grades, both with and without controls for high school grade point average. I argue that there are two fundamental problems with these studies as they are often carried out.

This paper introduces the notion of a stability condition on a triangulated category. The motivation comes from the study of Dirichlet branes in string theory, and especially from M.R. Douglas’s work on Π-stability. From a mathematical point of view, the most interesting feature of the definition is that the set of stability conditions Stab(D) on a fixed category D has a natural topology, thus defining a new invariant of triangulated categories.

In many familiar cases (e.g., Anosov systems) the growth is exponential, but arbitrarily fast growth is possible; in fact, the first author has shown that arbitrarily fast growth is topologically (Baire) generic for C 2 or smoother diffeomorphisms.
