Canna edulis. Ker starch processing wastewater from craft villages contains high organic concentration such as starch, cellulose, xylan, protein… and especially high starch concentration after the states of grinding, sedimentation and filtration. The concentration of COD and BOD5, SS and coliform of wastewater are hundreds times higher than standards.

Cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) from banana peels was evaluated as promising stabilizer for oil-in-water emulsions. CNFs were treated using ultrasound and high-pressure homogenizer. Changes on the size, crystallinity index and zeta potential of CNFs were associated with the intense effects of cavitation phenomenon and shear forces promoted by mechanical treatments.

An in-depth study of molecular and supramolecular structures of bamboo cellulose upon heat treatment
In this study, two methods including a common method using high concentration of alkali solution and a mild extraction method at ambient conditions were used to extract cellulose from bamboo. The results showed that two methods affected the initial state of the cellulose.

This work aimed to produce and characterize cellulose nanofibers obtained from cassava peel with a combination of pre-treatments with acid hydrolysis or TEMPO-mediated oxidation and ultrasonic disintegration. All nanofibers presented nanometric diameter (5−16 nm) and high negative zeta potential values (around −30 mV).

Whatman cellulosic filter paper was used as a substrate for the synthesis of two zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs); ZIF-8 and ZIF-67 with and without 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-1-piperidine oxoammonium salt (TEMPO)- oxidized cellulose nanofibril (TOCNF). All synthesis procedures take place at room temperature via a one-pot procedure.

While current trends in Green Analytical Chemistry aim at reducing or simplifying sample treatment, food usually comprises complex matrices where direct analysis is not possible in most cases. In this context, sample treatment plays a pivotal role. Biogenic amines are naturally formed in many foodstuffs due to the action of microorganisms, while their presence has been associated with adverse health effects.

The values of potentially mineralizable N estimated using first order kinetics model related well to the observed cumulative MN at 16th week. No significant difference was observed between CF and SRF treatments for available P content in the 2nd week. Significantly higher P content was observed in CF compared to SRF treatment in the 4th week, whereas in the 8th week, some SRFs released significantly higher content than CF.

Cellulose acetate (CA) membranes were modified by nano-silicon dioxide (n-SiO2), and they were exposed to ultrasonic waves at a frequency of 35 kHz. The effect of sonication on their water sorption tendency and permeation capability was investigated. The characterization of the membranes was done by FTIR and SEM analysis, and the hydrophilic character of the membranes was deduced by swelling studies and contact angle (CAn) measurements.

The objective of this study is to obtain the protein content in NRL ≤ 50 µg/g of rubber and to evaluate the effect of oligoHEC treatment on the soluble protein content in NRL. The results show that oligoHEC at low concentration (0.25 %) effectively extracted protein molecules. Interestingly, the allergenic protein content in NRL decreased proportionally with the increase in oligoHEC concentration.

Xyloglucan endotransglycosylase/hydrolases (XTH) can disrupt and reconnect the xyloglucan chains, modify the cellulose-xyloglucan complex structure in the cell wall to reconstruct the cell wall. Previous studies have reported that XTH plays a key role in the aluminum (Al) tolerance of tea plants (Camellia sinensis), which is a typical plant that accumulates Al and fluoride (F), but its role in F resistance has not been reported.
